Healthier2day1227 326 Posted September 3, 2013 I am 10 weeks post op. I never lost my hunger but this last few days the hunger pains have been really intense. So much so that before a meal my stomach hurts because of hunger, a bad pain not just rumbling. Then the hunger returns less than an hour after eating. I don't drink with meals and I eat my Protein. I tried taking tums to help and it helped a little but it's still there. I'm getting 700/900 cal and exercising daily. Does anyone have any suggestions? Yesterday I felt persistently hungry all day even though I ate 1000 cal.

BellaItaliana 57 Posted September 3, 2013 Are you on a PPI? It sounds like acid reflux to me, especially if it was helped a little by Tums. Acid can really feel like hunger.

Snufflegus 80 Posted September 3, 2013 PPI is over the counter like Prevacid or Prilosec. My surgeon has me on omniprezoal 20 mg twice a day (although at 14 weeks I only need it once, but started taking it at day 3), he recommends it for 6 months.

BellaItaliana 57 Posted September 3, 2013 Yep... my doctor wants everyone on it for the first three months, minimum, and then as individually needed. It should help you. 1 Healthier2day1227 reacted to this
