Does excercising and building stronger abs pre- op help with faster recovery?

Recommended Posts

Trying to figure out if it would be helpful to concentrate on building ab strength before my surgery at end of October. Was hoping it might help with faster recovery. Any experience or thoughts on this?

Any kind of exercise with be beneficial! If you can get even a little bit stronger and healthier before surgery it can only help :)

I really think one of the reasons I didn't stall till I got to normal BMI and slacked off on the last few pounds is in part due to the muscle mass I built pre-op and continued to work on as soon as I was released for strength training.

I highly recommend building your muscle mass to help healing and weight loss.

I was told the other day in my support group that working out before surgery and getting into a good routine will also help you reduce the amount of excess skin you have after losing weight. Not sure if it's true, but it can never hurt to exercise:)
