I was sleeved on 8 /13. Eating soft food with some struggles. Losing weight and feeling pretty good. Having some difficulty getting all my Fluid in. I miss drinking while I eat.

Today was really weird. I could eat. Not a ton, but a lot more than I have been eating. I was hungry all day. I was able to eat a full Protein Bar without feeling full and ate every 2 hours. I ate quite a bit. Not as much as I could before surgery, but it was a big hungry eating day.

I wondering if it has anything to do with maybe finally getting my period, but I don't like this. I like getting full fast and not being able to eat much.

Has anyone else had a day like this?

I was sleeved the same day!!! I'm still not feeling actual hunger... More like the weakness and gnawing acid feeling when I need to eat... But YES... Craving and all that WAY more when the monthly evil time came around!!! I noticed my cals were up a little and I had to eat more often .. Still with salt and sweet cravings... Grrr... But it passed and back to normal now... Lol... Don't let it mess with ya girl!!! It will pass in a day or so and u will likely not want as much to ingest... :)

Saw this on another thread and it showed me exactly why we have to wait to drink.

Does this pertain to us, seeing as how we aren't bypass patients???

I had the same question while watching this. Seems to me, since we don't have a "pouch" but a sleeve, things might work a lot better. I am a former lap band patient, so I understand how this applies to a band situation, but I'm not convinced that drinking while eating is quite as counterproductive to we sleeve patients....although I agree we have all been advised not to drink while we eat or for the time shortly after eating.

I believe the reason Sleevers can't drink is because we need to give our stomach enough time to absorb all the nutrients from the small amount of food in our stomach. If we drank fluids it would push the food into the intestines without digesting. We need to give ourselves time before drinking otherwise you will be hungry again quicker which is what we are trying to avoid. That make sense?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
