Mine comes and goes. Right now the thirst is pretty much gone. Contributing factors for me are a sinus cold' date=' whose drainage has affected my stomach. Can't eat much either. Ugh.[/quote']

Might ask my surgeon about it on Friday. It's so weird as I used to be so thirsty before the surgery.

Omg! So glad you are doing better! It was my biggest fear during recovery' date=' that I would harm my sleeve in some way...now I realize it is still a possibility. I am about to hit my 7 week anniversary tomorrow, and will be much more careful when chewing, etc. thanks so much for sharing, and I hope you recover fully soon.

Well. I think the damage had been done earlier and I only got the symptoms at week 6. But it shows that things can be going on that you don't know about.

That's one thing I wanted to ask. Has anyone else lost their thirst? Only I haven't felt thirsty once since my surgery and it worries me. I can go hours before realising I haven't drunk anything....

I used to be able to drink 2 or 3 of the large bottles of Water a day before surgery. Now I'm barely thirsty and HATE water. It is so weird. I tried every bottled water brand out there, and can't stand any of them. The only thing I drink now are Protein Shakes and Vitamin Water Zero. And even then it is barely 1 of each a day. I miss my water.

I have to force the liquids......but that's been a lifelong problem.....it's just harder to guzzle to get caught up to the 64 ounces the DR wants...........good luck.......glad you didn't ignore those sharp pains......hope you are feeling better!

Chrissythemoo, I am so sorry you had to go through this. Being in the hospital can not be fun. Also the liquids they give you to drink in hospital, stink. Have you tried flavoring your Water with things like Decaf tea, green blueberry tea, all sorts of decaf herbal teas or crystal light flavor changers. It is good to hear you are on the mend. Your cautionary tale will help someone else I am sure.

Some days I get frustrated too! I was sleeved on 8/5 and depending on what starting weight you use I'm down between 30 and 16 pounds. My weight when starting this journey was 204, my weight the date of surgery was 190, today I weighed 174. When I think I have only lost 16# since surgery, I begin to wonder if I wasted my money as well.

What keeps me going is knowing that if I keep following the rules eventually the weight will come off. There is no way I'm going to stay at 174 forever when I only consume 700-800 calories a day including 70g of Protein. I started off with a lower BMI than most, so it's just going to take me longer.

My body has already changed significantly. My husband compliments me constantly and anyone who hasn't seen me since before surgery tells me how skinny I look. Not sure how that few pounds of loss can make this much difference, but it does.

Just keep doing what you are doing and try not to compare yourself to others. Try on the clothes you were wearing prior to surgery and I bet you will see a big difference. Go clothes shopping and see how you look in the size of clothes you couldn't fit in before the surgery (just don't buy them, since you are still shrinking ...).

In a few months I bet you will come back and tell us how great you are looking!

I think the less you have to lose, the slower it is. However, with this tool, it will also help not put the weight back on. I'm 9 weeks out and have lost 30lbs as of this am, 189.8. My last preop weight was 219.8. I understand the frustration, I have come to realize that even though I thought it would go faster, that would not have been as healthy for me. I certainly didn't put all the weight on in 9 weeks, I can't expect it to come off that quick either. Also, as ladies we have other issues that contribute to our Weightloss/stalls (or hormones).

Over time I hope that you will be able to see the benefits of this new tool, and be able to work this program to your best advantage.

I'm the same way. I struggle to get all my fluids down. I'm just not thirsty and have no desire for Water or crystal light or anything

We all lose weight at a different rate. Your body doesn't know you spent 25k on it. 210 pounds is really small as I see it, I am 8 weeks out and have not seen 210 yet, started at 246 or 254 depending when I weighed in. I would be thrilled to weigh 188. How tall are you and what was your BMI? What does your Dr think? What does your thyroid look like? So many factors go into this weight loss thing. Are you exercising? I am wondering if you are looking for an excuse to sabatoge yourself. Stay on the program and you will get there. Its hard but being fat is harder.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
