i was sleeved on the 23rd! i'm still on clear liquids' date=' but have issues with getting foam stuck in my throat - ugh.

some incisions are also draining, so i'm feeling pretty down about this right about now. :/[/quote']

That is very normal as long as it is clear with a little blood. It is called salagues(sp) serus Fluid and is very Normal

I was sleeved on 8-19. I am 3 weeks out and down 17 pounds. I miss taking a big drink of water!!! Sip sip sip. I get chest/shoulder pains when i drink just a little too much. I am so confused with all the different recommendations by doctors. Everyone seems to be able to do things at different times. I am scared to screw things up!

My main issue is taking pills. I miss this more than food. I just want to be able to take my anti-depressants without crushing. I am not able to crush the ones I take so I had to get a different type and crushing those are horrible so i have not been on my meds for 3 weeks. I also want to be able to take the Prilosec without opening and putting in pudding. I want to gag when I do this.

I can't get the chewable Multivitamin down at all so have not taken it at all. My Protein intake is okay. I use the vanilla shake as Creamer and also add it to my low cal hot chocolate. I seem to like it either hot or over ice.

My major incision site is still sore. I think if I drank more it might feel better??? Went through this whole thing with no pain meds. I am allergic to most so Tylenol was it for me.

So glad to find this forum. I love seeing how everyone else is doing and what has/has not worked for others.

Thanks for listening!

Jenn

Moousa and any one else not swallowing pills.< /p>

I am swallowing all my medications antibiotics ect..... It was not told to me that I could not take my medication. I am on day 9. No problems other then a lot of burping after I take them with, soy milk, almond milk or coconut milk.

Okay! Feeling much better today! I went ahead and scheduled an appt with my doc and went with all my issues! He fixed them ALL!

Told me to cut my antidepressant in half and take it!! Woohoo! Just hearing him say it made me feel so much better! He said I can also take my Prilosec in pill form!

He said forget the chewable multis and take Walmart generic prenatal which is very small AND it takes care of my Iron requirement too! Woohoo!!

Lastly he gave me a script for my yeast infection that the antibiotics caused.

Life is good now and I see it getting better each day now.

Only thing is the pain I feel in my chest and shoulder when I drink too much. He said that would go away but man it's painful!

Thanks everyone! Looks like your suggestions were spot on!!

Jenn

I'm so excited to hear about the possibility of not having to crush my pills. I have my appt with doc on Thursday. It's the two times I hate the most!

How are you getting ur 60gms of Protein in daily. I'm on full liquid and have two boost high Protein drinks but that's 30mg total and its 4 4oz meals a day to just get that in.

Are there any hints? A good high Protein powdered unflavored? Need tips.

Hi fellow August Sleevers. I was sleeved on August 21st. (2 weeks out). So far I am thrilled that I made this decision. Sometimes though, I get a couple of hunger pains during the day. I never felt those prior to the surgery. It's like my body is reminding me to eat. Before, I just ate to eat. I guess my body never got the chance to tell me before. Currently, I am trying to get down a few more calories. Anybody else experiencing this phenomenon called the feeling of hunger? LOL :)

Me!!! I too get them and I agree. I think it's just the bodies way of reminding us to eat. More Protein I guess...

Surgery date was 8/26 for me. The gas pains were the worst, but other than one stubborn air bubble in my left shoulder it's all gone now. The one in my shoulder sucks though. If I yawn or sneeze I feel like I'm dying. Wish it would take a hike.

I'm finding more and more energy every day and that helps a lot. Something that shocked me was the amount of depression I've been feeling. I knew it was a possibility, but it threw me for a loop how hard it hit me. I spent one whole day in bed literally crying every hour. I thought I made the biggest mistake of my life. Fortunately, that has started to lift and I'm feeling positive again.

Best of luck to you all, I'm sending you all good vibes! :)

I really like the premier Protein shakes at costco. A vanilla and a chocolate one. They are 30 grams of protein each. They come pre made and ready to drink. They taste good REALLY cold. I pour the chocolate over ice in the morning for Breakfast and I pour the vanilla (room temp) into my hot chocolate and it is sooo yummy! 60g of protein done! This was actually my biggest fear before surgery. How will I get all my protein? It has turned out to be the least of all my concerns.

Good luck!!

I was sleeved 8/28 and I am thinking I want some variety while making sure I meet Protein goals once I start eating.... So I'm leaning toward purchasing the Isopure no carb unflavored Protein Powder, has anyone tried it? I like the flavored ready to drink Isopure but I'm iffy about unflavored powder. Any suggestions?

I was sleeved 8/19. Recovery has been slower than I expected. I had a lot of pain at my largest incision. Couldn't take the pain med because they make me nauseous. I did have some dehydration but a liter of Fluid later and I felt much better. I'm getting my fluids and my Protein in now and I'm feeling better about my choice to have this surgery. My weight before preop diet was 224lbs. Day of surgery I was 211lbs. My current weight is 196lbs.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
