I am a 27th-er too. I am doing fantastic. Once I realized that I was having some lactose intolerance and switched to soy I feel like a whole new woman. I am doing great on Water, took in 70oz today. I can easily get 8oz an hour of water. Protein is another story. I am full liquids and do well with a 1/4 C of puréed thinned Soups (to a full consistency) and I use a toddler spoon and other soy products. I haven't paid much attention to protein numbers because my focus has been water. Tomorrow marks my 1st week and I am focusing on protein and getting those numbers up. I have my first appt next Monday and I want good marks all around.

I had surgery 8/29, mostly good so far. I seem to be sore at night, so it interferes with my sleep, but my energy is still high. It feels like things are shifting in my insides lol...

I was sleeved on 8-19. I am 3 weeks out and down 17 pounds. I miss taking a big drink of water!!! Sip sip sip. I get chest/shoulder pains when i drink just a little too much. I am so confused with all the different recommendations by doctors. Everyone seems to be able to do things at different times. I am scared to screw things up!

My main issue is taking pills. I miss this more than food. I just want to be able to take my anti-depressants without crushing. I am not able to crush the ones I take so I had to get a different type and crushing those are horrible so i have not been on my meds for 3 weeks. I also want to be able to take the Prilosec without opening and putting in pudding. I want to gag when I do this.

I can't get the chewable Multivitamin down at all so have not taken it at all. My Protein intake is okay. I use the vanilla shake as Creamer and also add it to my low cal hot chocolate. I seem to like it either hot or over ice.

My major incision site is still sore. I think if I drank more it might feel better??? Went through this whole thing with no pain meds. I am allergic to most so Tylenol was it for me.

So glad to find this forum. I love seeing how everyone else is doing and what has/has not worked for others.

Thanks for listening!

Jenn

Hello Everyone,

I was sleeved on the 26th. My highest weight was 289. My weight before my pre-op diet was 266. The day of my surgery I was 251. After having surgery I was up to 259. I am now 1 week out and as of this morning I am down to 247. Hooray for me.

I am also having difficulty getting in more than 40 grams of Protein. My fluids are around 40 to 60 oz..

Some of my incision sights are still sore. I haven't experienced much bruising except on my arms.

My energy is real low but it is getting better. I have been off all pain meds since 4 days post-op.

GOOD LUCK TO US ALL!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
