slthompson 7 Posted September 2, 2013 Hi, my name is Stephanie and I am just one week postop. Had the vertical sleeve procedure on 8/23. Found this website while searching for answers. So far so good. Getting a little tired of mushy food but it's worth it! 1 SDH reacted to this

Sarah0829 41 Posted September 4, 2013 I got mine on 08/29 and I feel really tired often. Trying to get in my Protein but I can only fit 4 oz. liquids are getting old really fast... I am a little sore still but my incisions are healing quickly so that's good! Cold liquids for some reason hurt. Does anyone know why? Warm goes down great! Wish you luck! slthompson 7 Posted September 4, 2013 Thanks Harley. I am doing pretty well. I can get most of my food in and my liquid and Protein for the most part. How are you doing?
Catalina 0 Posted September 4, 2013 I haven't had my surgery yet, but the way it was explained to me is that cold liquids cause contraction, so it can be more painful. Warm liquids cause you to expand a small amount, therefor they are more comfortable to drink. I am not looking forward to that because icy cold Water is the only way I like it. However, you might want to try room temp. Water for a while, Sarah.
Sarah0829 41 Posted September 4, 2013 Yes you are right I also had a hernia repaired during surgery... Dr just told me today that's was causing my discomfort with cold drinks :/ on a great note I lost 14 pounds! Woohoo! 6 days out of surgery feeling amazing.... A little tired and weak at times but for the most part great! Good luck on your surgery
wifeofdes 33 Posted September 4, 2013 Thanks for the info on the cold liquids! I was having that painful issue and was wondering why. It makes perfect sense though. But with this weather we are having in Cali it's kind of hard to stay away from cold drinks. I personally hate winter foods (soups, chili, etc) in the summer time. So right now I am feeling miserable. BUT this too shall pass.
Sarah0829 41 Posted September 4, 2013 I can totally understand you! I live in South Texas and man it's hot! I don't like to eat hot stuff during the heat either I love sugar free Popsicles! Crunchy on ice just so I can chew and Greek yogurt
