Getting banded on Friday 8/6/04

Recommended Posts

You POOR thing! Liquids for 6 days! That would be gawd-awful! They gave me juice and Jello the day after surgery and they really hit the spot. It will get a little tough again towards the end of the liquid phase but you will appreciate the new additions so much more. I doubt anything will be as bad as this last week has been for you. Keep your chin up! Your almost there! Teresa

I was so careful to adhere to the post-op diet. I went to MX and I certainly didn't want to hurt the band. That was a big incentive not to eat when I did get hungry. I have heard that some people are hungry right away. My surgeon didn't require a pre op fast, so I got a break there. Drink Water, water, water, it cuts your appetite during the liquid/ mushy stage.< /p>

Good luck Queen! You will not know the tube has been in place, except for a bit of a raw throat afterwards. They put it in after you are put to sleep and take it out before you wake up! You will do fine!

Who is your doc again?

I am using Doctor Jayaseelan,so far he has been great and the staff at his office are just awesome. There are 4 women that have the band and the results they have has are incredible. They have their photo diary for new patients to look at. One of the girs was like a size 24 and she is now a 6 in 14 months. I really can't beleive that I will be able to walk into Macy's and buy regular clothes, but the women in Dr. J's office have all been there and done it.

Hi,

I haven't been on board for a couple of weeks, and when I signed in today I saw your e-mail that you were having surgery today! You are probably having it as I type this. I'm sure the breathing tube will be fine; I had one too. After surgery you will be too busy trying to walk the gas off. Hunger and doctor instructions about when and what to eat differ. The worst is over now, and you have lots of help here. You are on your way to a healthier you! Keep in touch!

Hello to all of you. Your well wishes were really appriciated. I had my surgery at 11:00 yesterday, and was home in my bed 3:30. Slept most of the afternoon, I took some Advil last night and then this morning. All I could get down yesterday was a glass of Tomato juice, but this morning I had two cups of black coffee and I have already taken a walk around the block. I am really feeling pretty good. I will try to have a Protein Shake this morning to see how that works. Thanks again for all the well wishes.

Hi Queen,

Congratulations! Wow, if your stomach can tolerate Advil, coffee, and Tomato juice, you'll be fine. I guess I have a real acidic stomach, and those three things would do me in. Walking really helps, doesn't it? You are on your way!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
