Any Az sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if any of the Arizona Sleevers have Cigna ? If so have long did it take to get approved. I am hoping that I will be able to get my surgery before Thanksgiving but would prefer closer to Veterans day. Any suggestions on how I can speed up the progress!

I have Cigna. They were very quick to reject and approve. Submitted on a Monday and knew by Friday.

The biggest thing with them was to make sure to meet all the requirements. If you can do that, you should be good to go!

Hopefully the insurance coordinator will make show all my ducks are in a row before she submits it.

I have to admit at the beginning, I was scared to go to St. Luke's :( but I had an amazing experience everyone was super nice and I had no complications... I still go to the monthly seminars which are super helpful :) my surgeon was Dr. Juarez .. I would do this all over in a heart beat :) I talk to 2 other girls that also had surgery there around the same time let me know if you want to talk to us :)

I am also going to use Dr. Juarez, paperwork was submitted yesterday, Hopefully I will be approved this time. It has been really stressful having to change surgeons and centers at the last minute just to please Cigna.

It is so hard waiting for the insurance approval. I am scared that they will find some reason to deny me again:(

Thank you. The only thing I am really worried about is the fact that I was told that my company's Cigna plan states that it does not require a 3 month supervised diet but everyone that I have talked to said that they were required to do one.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
