I'm 10 days out.....and for the last 3 nights I've been having what I describe as restless ARMS... Is like if my arms have a mind if their own and fight me when it comes time to sleep. I've been getting anxiety attacks at bedtime and don't know how to deal with this... Last night I sat in my kitchen till 3 am just crying cuz my body is so anxious... Today I took a dosage of the liquid Vicodin nor for pain but just trying to fight this crazy feeling.

I had a lot of anxiety after my surgery too. Nothing really made me comfortable and it was so bad that I was afraid to go to sleep. I think this was just my body adjusting to the enormous changes, and catching a respiratory virus in the hospital didn't help either. Keep following your doctors suggestions for fluids and Protein, and if you are still feeling this way, calling and asking for an anti-anxiety medication like Buspar or Xanix may be appropriate for you. Getting some walking in during the day might also help. For me the problem only lasted a week or two, and it was really bad for only a couple of days, then it slowly eased up. Hang in there, I promise it does get better!

I too had those restless days, legs would not stop moving and I felt as if I wanted to get up and do something, did not know what, I was so restless. I could not sleep and heart pounded. I succumbed to taking .25mg of ativan and it really helped. Stroking my dogs and cats also helped when I got really anxious and restlessness. It has been 4 days since last I felt that way, I am now 11 days out from surgery.I hope it soon stops for you. I think it might have something to do with anesthesia and catacholamines/ or rapid metabolic changes. You probably should talk with your Dr. see what he thinks, and maybe ask for something to help you get through this rough time.

This happens to me sometimes, mostly with my legs but sometimes with both arms and legs. For me, this is an anxiety attack. I take Ativan (1 to 1.5 mg). If you have some anxiety med you can chew it for a quicker effect. Another thing that helps is, if you know you're going to be anxious and will find it hard to sleep, exercise like crazy and just wear yourself out. This probably isn't an option for you right now. That sometimes works, but most of the time I just take the Ativan, have some hot tea, and try to distract my mind from whatever's freaking me out. I wish you luck!

Yes. Please do not be shy. Talk to your MD, they have an Rx to help you through.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
