I don't like pain at all. Where u in alot of pain after surgery? How many days did you take off work? Did u have to do the 2 week pre op, if so how did u handle it? I should be scheduled for surgery around December but the thought of only nasty shakes for two weeks is killing me

When i first woke up after surgery and i was in recovery i remember the first thing i said was it hurts...i almost forgot what just happened...but once i got the pain meds i felt much better. Once i was on the floor..it wasn't really pain that i felt it was more discomfort then anything. I had my surgery on Tuesday and i was back at work the following Wed but I also have an office job. What do you do for work? And i was dreading the 2 week shake diet. I will say the first 3 days were the hardest but then i got used to them and it was a breeze and i was not even drinking the 5 they say you should drink. Drinking lots of Water through out the day also helps.

I was def nervous as well. I never had surgery before this, but i knew the benefits outweighed the risks. I had HTN, pre-diabetic, and also PCOS, I can now say..no more blood pressure medications, blood work is back to normal, and my body is finally returning to normal. Even as I sat in pre-op that morning i kept thinking I should just leave, but i'm so glad i didn't. This has def been the best decision i have ever made, and Dr.Munoz did an excellent job. I love his nurse practitioner. I actually went to the support group for the first time last night and it was great. Anymore questions just let me know. Def wish you lots of luck!! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
