Recommended Posts

I am 5 days post op and I am so hungry for real food. I have a pre teen at home and I need to fix him regular healthy meals. It's killing me. Tonight I went so far as to pick a piece of chicken off his plate and chew it then spit it out. I am not craving junk food jut something beyond yogurt, Protein Shakes, and Soup. HELP!!!!!

Are you really hungry or is it just head hunger? Maybe you're different but I know that there was no way that I could have eaten solid food 5 days out. I got sick of the Protein Shakes too, but the Soups were ok, I liked the Unjury chicken Soup and I also bought the Unjury cheese sauce. I actually made it a little thinner than what they said and mixed it with the chicken soup, and it was pretty good. hang in there probably just a few more days till you can do mushies right? When does you Doc want you to switch?

It is definitely hunger. I tried Water and switching activities I still just want some regular food. I have 9 more days of full liquids before I can start purees. Need more variety I guess. I am on a very limited budget and can barely afford Vitamins so special food is out for me. I can't believe the prices and just can't afford them.

Being on liquids was really hard for me too- I got SO sick of everything being sweet. Once you start eating pureed food it gets much easier because the food has taste and there is more variety. Hang in there- it will be over before you know it!

I am in the same boat! I was sleeved on August 26 and today I was roaming around the kitchen like a crazy person! My family thinks it is quite comical...anyway I finally gave up and drank some hot decaff tea, it really did help! I'm ready for some real food so I feel ya!

Full liquids includes stage 1 baby foods for me. Have you tried those? Peaches and pears are good and offers variety. They are not expensive.

I've posted some homemade Soups that are high in Protein on my blog here as well as in the recipe sharing section. A couple use shrimp and lobster (frozen) but all can be made with chicken. They are full liquids that are Hugh in protein, and are not sweet like the shakes so they made a nice change for us.

Chewing food and spitting it out is a slippery slope...you should try not to do that again. Also, I'm on full liquids right now too, so I understand and believe you that it is "real" hunger, because I feel it too.... however, read your own words... you are "craving" certain things. Cravings are mental, and controlling them is part of the very hard part of getting used to this new lifestyle. If you feel true, stomach hunger, then eat (or drink in our case).... but right now it's so important to get a mental upper-hand over cravings. Today it's chicken, four months from now it's ice cream. I'm trying hard to learn the difference between what my body needs and what my emotions want, and it's not easy... but I think it's necessary to be successful. Oh, and a side note: Gamergirl, I made your shrimp bisque and it was great! :-)

Hi how do I find your blog? I'm 5 days post op and on liquids for 3 weeks so some inspiration would be fantastic :)

Best way to do it is to use a computer and to onto to my profile. You'll then be able to see my blogs. Sorry I haven't figured out how to do that via the app yet.

I feel you! The first few days I had absolutely no hunger, it has reared its ugly head but takes little to keep at bay. Tonight was the first time I have felt truly satisfied since my surgery. I had a pureed, thinned vegetable ground turkey Soup that was strained. It was absolutely amazing. I savored it, and could only take around 3 bites at a time than had to take a few minute break. 6 bites and I was good! I haven't been hungry since and that was 5 hours ago. Protein Shakes were killing me, due to digestive issues, so this was very nice.

Check with your dietician. I was three days post-op and spoke with my dietician because I was hungrey for something savory, warm and filling. She suggested Tomato Soup and or any Soup blended into a baby food consistency. Campbell's Healthy request Tomato with one can of 1% milk worked like a charm for me. One can will make three meals or so. I also like Progresso split pea with bacon. It blends up fine and curbs cravings. Good luck ;-)

I too am really hungry tummy growling, so empty I could throw up hungry. The Unjury chicken Soup with 8 ounces of Water fills me for about 2-3 hours and then my tummy starts to growl again. I find I can eat 4 ounces of yogurt easily, and I am hoping when I add meat Protein it will get better. I have felt more full wiht half of a cup of malto meal mixed with yougurt and Protein Powder. Than does seem to keep me more full- 5 hours, but I can only eat that 1-2 times a day. I am wondering if some sleeves can hold more food 11 days post op.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
