EPIC FAIL ON THE PRE-OP DIET!

Recommended Posts

I cheated with one scrambled egg and mashed potatoes with Protein Powder twice. Now that i'm almost there I've kinda lost my appetite!

Same thing happened to me, I got to were food meant nothing the texture was just nasty after the pre op diet.

I cheated on the pre op diet too, I was fine.back then I had no control over food and zero will power. I was in complete denial. I wouldn't suggest u keep doing it. It could cause complications. I have done great with my sleeve. I might have had a small bite of cupcake at a party once but I puked and haven't cheated since. I eat Protein first then veggies. I am very happy. I have lost 51.6 lbs in 3 months. I don't want that kind of stuff anymore. I just like clean eating. I have changed. My family ate pizza today. One of my old favorites. Didn't even bother me. I ate steak and veggies. I love my new life. My old life was gross to me now. Good luck to u on ur new life!

The poster described eating a gyros sandwich, then doing it again, that goes beyond taking a nibble in a pre op diet. Hopefully she got it out of her system and now that she is sleeved is ready to take this seriously. You were given a second chance in life, don't waste it. Good luck.

Actually BigFrank I did get it out of my system. I am 4 days post-op and I'm doing quite well. No pain. NO gain. I wouldn't do this if I didn't think I would be success. I wouldn't set myself up for failure. However, I do appreciate the STRONG verbiage used...it was definitely an eye opener.

I had a cookie today, cuz i was exhausted at work, But I find saying rude things to people helps the hunger A LOT, try telling a couple people to shut up...but in moderation!!! Lol, OAN, just blame it on the hunger, if people know that you're on a pre-op diet they'll usually give u a pass!!! Hahahah

THANKS VIVADIVA01...THAT IS HILARIOUS BUT I JUST MAY TRY THAT!

We all are not perfect and I'm sure there are things that others need to work on more than others.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
