I have been reading on here that a lot of people have gas pain immediately after surgery and take gas-x or something similar to relieve the symptoms. So here is the question I have. What kind of gas pain are you referring to? The pain from the surgeon putting gas in your belly to expand it or something else?

The abdomen is inflated with gas, to be able to see the organs and manipulate the tools during surgery. It is not just gas, however it is Fluid that your body releases in response to the tissues that are manipulated and separated. The surgeons are supposed to try to expel this gas, but I think different doctors are skilled more or less in this, and honestly, I think some care much less if they take the time to expel it well, which is one of the reason's I strongly suggest posting a review on here that includes a detailed feedback about surgery and follow up care. You will have a bit of gas left over, regardless, and this gas can migrate in the intrapertonial space of your abdomen, and how it migrates can create serious discomfort if it migrates upwards in a more or less large bubble, rather than dissipating more evenly if you walk around a lot after surgery.

Okay, that is what I thought it was but I wanted to make sure. I had my gallbladder removed last year and had none of the gas discomfort. I am hoping for something similar with this surgery.

Mine appeared as a pain in my left shoulder for a few days after surgery. I did not take gas-x. I was told that was more for intestinal gas.

Yep, left shoulder and I got it often for the first two weeks. I did the Gas-X dissolvable on the tongue strips and they helped A LOT! There is a lot of internal swelling we are dealing with as well so when you swallow, burp, hiccup, anything you can get that pain in the shoulder. I used a heating pad when I got home and that helped as well.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
