If you are newly sleeved I would say nay. So it a bit slower until you are sure. You can always increase it later. I think for me 1 oz every 15 minutes would have been a bit much. I am, however, going from my experience.

My doc told me 1 oz every 10 minutes for at least 1o hours of the day. That would leave 14 for sleep and activities away from the house. All liquid counted, shakes, juice, Water, etc. I would make 60 oz. this was only needed the first few weeks. He said if you didn't stay on op of it...it was hard to catch up and dehydration was not good. You need extra Fluid to help kidneys while losing weight at this rate.

1oz every 15 was exactly what I was told by my surgeon and NUT. It was really hard the first week or two. I'm 4 months out and it still takes me at least an hour to drink one bottle of water!!! I really work at getting my Water in thru the day so it usually means that is all I drink. Outside of my morning Protein shake! Then I sip my Water all day. I'm aware of "about" when I will eat lunch or dinner so I put the lid on the water about 30-45 minutes before a meal. If you listen to your body very closely over the next few months you will learn a new dance in life and your relation to food. It's been a great adventure! Not easy, but great!

The day after surgery in the hospital the goal they gave me was 1 oz every 15 mins. It was nectar Protein lemonade. I had to reach that goal to be able to go home that day.

Right after surgery, I was lucky if I could get more than 3 sips in at a time. Follow what your surgeon said but be careful and don't push

Definitely try to stay hydrated. I had a hard time and had to have iv fluids at 9 days post op. 3 days later and I feel much better. Actually met my Fluid and Protein goal today. If you get behind you won't be able to catch up and it makes you feel horrible.

That was the rule I had to follow for the first 24 hours.

In the hospital I was given Water in 1 oz medicine cups & they wouldn't let me drink more than one every 5 minutes. I don't know what the goal was since I wanted to drink more that they would let me. I do remember that I had to drink 40 oz before I could be discharged. I've set a goal for myself of 80 oz minimum a day & I usually reach that by 5-6 pm.

Wow, 80 oz a day? That is awesome! I wish I could do that! I struggle to get my NUT's minimum of 64oz :(

I am minimum 1 oz every 15 minutes. No more than 8 oz an hour. 8oz is my goal. My first half day home from the hospital wasn't great, 17oz or something. Yesterday, my 2nd day home and 4th day post op I hit 40 oz and today, 3rd day home and 5th day post op I am on target for 64oz. Not counting a half of a Popsicle I had earlier, Soup or Protein Drinks. I'm very persistent. I've already learned first thing in the morning my sleeve is not ready for 8oz of Fluid so I take it easy. As the day goes on my tolerance increases and I increase. I feel better getting my fluids in for sure!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
