Believe me, you'll know it! I just started solids a few days ago and have vomited at least once every day because I overdid it, either eating too much or too fast. It's definitely a learning curve.

Yes, you will definitely know it! And once you find it, you will want to not ever eat to that point again! It is more of a discomfort in your chest than in your stomach area now.

SOOOO true! It's in your chest where you feel the most discomfort (at least it is for me!) I just started purées yesterday and ate a little too much too quickly. I know it's a bit scary, but take it slow, small quantities (2 Tbsp to start, per my surgeon) and dive in! Time to start living that sleeved life, yo! :) You'll do great, just don't beat yourself up over the learning curve. :)

For me it's like bad heartburn. But now (1.5 months out) I just feel full. I took one bite too much and was uncomfortable for two hours afterwards.

You WILL know! And it is a feeling of discomfort in your chest. The key I think is to not only the small amounts but eat SLOWLY! Give your tummy a chance to tell your brain I'm full! One of my biggest problems was and is eating too fast! Old habits die hard. So I find myself eating away and then all of a sudden I'm stuffed and very icky feeling. I have never thrown up from eating too much, but sometimes wonder if I would be better off!! LOL! When I do get that discomfort I find that if I can go for an easy walk around the block it does help move things on down!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
