bad pain

Recommended Posts

so I have been in bad pain all day my stomach and my side has been killing me... I'm not for sure what caused it because I really haven't ate anything today that would make me sick.. so I'm really not for sure to do in this case I tried to call the doctor on call and nobody picked up. . and it really scared me me earlier... and it starts from my stomach where I had the surgery and ends at the top of my leg my side kinded hurts top... I'm only 5 months and there's anybody know what can cause me to hurt that bad.. I am going to see how I feel tonight then if I still feel bad I just go to the emergency room tomorrow.. I just don't want to be kept... last time I got sick and had a fever of 103 I had a really bad infection and they kept telling me it was my kidney and kept me for about 2 days has anybody else hurt this far along!!!!

Do you have an appendix? Could you possibly be pregnant? Do you have a fever? Nausea? Diarrhea? anything else but pain? Could be anything, abdominal pain is tricky. Related to the sleeve, could be a stricture, but that's usually associated with inablilty to tolerate any food or liquids. See how you do tonite, and if it's not better, get it checked out. Hope you feel better.

Yep, time to see your MD... This is not common, and it might not (or it might) be related to the sleeve surgery??

Another thing to throw in your head - my abdominal pain has been linked to my gall bladder (after consultation with my doctor and an abdominal ultrasound). I'm 12 weeks post op from the sleeve, but about to go back under the knife to have my g.b. removed.

Severe Constipation can be painful - still need to discuss with a dr as can be a bit of a challenge to resolve.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
