Dr. Beausoleil (Moncton N.B.)

Recommended Posts

Hi to all,

I got my band June 3rd in Bathurst and we want to start a support group there. I know you have at least one in Moncton. Is anyone can tell me where is your meeting and at what time. I really would like to be able to go to one of them so it would give me an idea how you fonction.

I would really appreciate any information about any support group in Moncton or the area.

Thank you,

clempier:smile2:

Hello,

I have a consultation with Dr. Beausoleil September 3rd. I am super stoked! But I have almost a million questions! So, I was wondering if anyone could help me out.

First of all, I am 26 years old, and atleast 325lbs(I haven't weighed myself in years, scales and me aren't good friends). I have been overweight my entire life. I've tried countless diets and failed every single time. About 3 years ago, my doctor sent my referral to Dr. Beausoleil but as you all know the list was incredibly long, so I was told about a 'Middle Man' Doctor in Saint John who could get you to the top of the list. That doctor would have approved me but at the time Medicare said I was 'too healthy' therefor they would not cover it. I've heard that since then, as long as Dr. B. approves the surgery, then you'll be able to have it.

So I was wondering if there are any ladies around my age that have had the surgery. If not does anyone have an idea or guess if I'll be approved? How long after your first consultation do you have the actual surgery? I'm worried about loose skin too, considering my age do you think it will take that long before it 'bounces' back or maybe it won't?

My parents and friends are all scared and worried. I am not in the slightest. This is literally the best gift ever. I feel like I am getting a totally new chance at life! I had pretty much given up.

Super stoked!

Sarah

Hi Sarah,

I had my surgery last June and I'm 50 years old. I'm sending you this message mainly for 2 reasons. The first is to encourage you not to be scared about the loose skin. A 50 years old skin is way looser than a 21 years one one and I can say so far so good. I lost 45 pounds so far and nothing is hanging. I don't know after a 100 pounds but we'll see when we get there. The second reason is to reassure your parents. It's one of the best thing that happen to me. It's a second chance in life and since you're so young, you have a beautiful life ahead of you. On top of that I'm diabetic which you don't want to have. I've been overweight since I was 10 and I ended up being diabetic type 2 when I was 36 or so. Let me tell you this, I would do it again at this instant. I have no regret none what so ever. I'm well and the lapband is a none invasive procedure so go for it girl.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
