Wow...I am feeling a little deflated this morning. I guess I have hit the infamous stall or plateau. Even though I have increased my recumbent bike rides and walking, I have gained 4 pounds this week. I am getting in a minimum of 70 grams of Protein each day and a minimum of 48oz of Water in daily. I know this is normal at some stage but just a bummer after putting in so much hard work. That's ok, time to push thru it and get past 50 miles and things will turn around.

Have a great day everyone.

Thanks M2G but I think I'll stick with the 5 miles. I doubt that I am pedaling at the same furious rate you do! It takes me almost 2 hours to ride 14 miles on a trail ride which is mostly flat!

Not sure how far post-op you are but with your increased activity you probably need to increase your water to a minimum of 64oz and perhaps your calories.

Stalls suck. Keep doing what you know is right, stay on plan and the weight will eventually go down. Hang in there!

I will be 4 weeks post op on Monday. I do usually hit the 64oz mark for water but always have a minimum of 48oz daily. My Proteins have been high but calories are not as high as they should be I guess. This past week I was getting between 750 and 900 calories a day. I eat something every few hours or have a Protein Shake. I wonder where I should be calorie wise at 4 weeks out? I go in next week for my 1 month post op visit so I will make sure to ask. I feel great every day, just not sure about this past week.

This happens. Know that stalls are short term and only represent the muscles replenishing glycogen which requires double the amount of water in weight. You are losing fat weight, but will be gaining muscle weight and some water weight so it initially looks like a wash or even a gain on the scale. The longest stalls (not plateau) is usually up to 3 weeks where the shorter ones might be 3 days. Remember this cycle of depleting glycogen / water and storing glycogen / water and the numbers you see on the scale will make more sense.

Your calories sound about rightat 4 weeks post-op. Sounds like the infamous stall that we all hit at weeks three or four. It's our body's way of saying WTF? LOL! Just keep doing what you are doing and perhaps add some extra Water with lemon. It'll help if you're retaining Fluid to flush it out of your system.

I agree with Chelenka, your water is too low. You need a minimum of 64oz of Fluid. With added exercise, you will need more than that. Every few weeks I weigh myself before and after working out. I increase my fluids by 16-24 oz for every pound lost during a workout. I did this today and I lost 2 pounds during my run! So now I've got to get in at least 96oz of fluid in today. If I don't, I will stall.

Great advice everyone and thanks for the help. I will definately get more Water in everyday. I know water is very important so it all makes sense.

Now, I didn't mean to highjack the 100 mile post so let's all get back to work! My goal is to break 50 miles by Sunday night, that's about 13 miles if I remember correctly. I hope everyone else stays on track with the routines. This is a great challlange and I would love to see it continue even after this month. It has been motivating for me.

Time to go walk some and drink some water. Have a great day everyone!!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
