major restriction question

Recommended Posts

Okay, I have just had my 6th fill 7 days ago and with pretty much anything I eat I cannot eat more than 4 to 6 oz. But I made that Soup that is bieng talked about in the food thread except I added elk meat so I could get my Protein. Even with eating the elk meat I can eat alot of that no problem. even with the chunks of celery, carrots, peppers, etc. Because it took me almost 6 months to get restriction, I wake up every morning worried that today my restriction will be gone (even though that hasn't happened). So I guess I am just bieng paranoid that when I ate this soup (which i pre-measured into a 6 oz bowl. ) I was still hungry afterwards. I know different things go down differently, so maybe this is just one of those foods that will go straight through my band. because I cannot even eat a 1.76 oz body for life protien bar without bieng very full. Anyways, anybody out there have any thoughts/ideas? TIA.

My doctors office told me not to eat anything with a spoon, that it would go straight thru the band. So my guess is the Soup is too... soupy. Try to eat just the veggies/meat out of it without the liquid and see if that helps.

So by their rationale, we can all do bread & rice, we just have to eat it with a spoon? :) :heh:

Unless you're (too) tight, liquids can either go right through or will drain quickly. Thin liquids, I should say. Like Soup, Water, tea... That's why we're advised to eat as chunky as possible (e.g. large curde cottage cheese vs. small). Or I was, anyway.

Oh, I don't think bread or rice will work. With or without a spoon. I think you missed the word "not". They want me to eat solids, liquids that must be eaten with a spoon go straight thru unless you are majorly restricted. I ate nothing but mushies for month and stretched out my pouch, so I guess it just depends on how restricted you are.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
