Ok....so this may seem like an insane question..but I really do need to know.

So brief history, had band in 9/2011, lost 38 lbs. Too many issues, not enough weight lost after 1 year. Did band to sleeve revison Dec 2012 (also had hernia repair and spleen repair). I had Dr. Smith for my first sugery. And Dr. Tyner for my second. LOVE my second doc. He's very user friendly.

While talking about the sleeve, he told me my meals would be limited to 5 bites (WHAT?) and I could eat up to 6 times. After mentally dealing with the 5 bites, I was excited to know I could eat more than 3 meals (sorry, but hated that about the lapband, was ALWAYS hungry).

Well Tyner left my clinic and went to another. The new doc (whom I'm having issues liking) was appalled I was eating 6 times. I got a lecture and he told me to cut it down. I strongly disagree because I continue to lose weight AND maintain my loss.

What are your rules in regards to eating?

lunch greak ,yogurt with Kahsi Cereal or chicken 4 oz , or sometimes since I work in sales I eat at a rest. so salad or chimichanga but eat just the meat

dinner chicken, fish or other meat 4 oz try to get in some vegtables and some type of carb

snack fruit

snack nuts

I have lost 119 lbs so far , I work out 5 x a week doing cardio or strength training.

I eat pretty much whatever I want at 8 months out. I usually divide it up into 5-6 meals a day. I also do the 5:2 fasting plan- 500 cals on fast days, 1100-1200 on non-fast days. In general, I limit carbs (like no bun with a burger, very little Pasta, rice, or bread). I have lost 130 lbs in total, 100 since surgery, 12 lbs from initial goal. I had a piece of homemade baklava this morning and thoroughly enjoyed it. I also log religiously on myfitnesspal. That's me in a nutshell.

I'm also a band to sleeve revision (slipped band) and I'm 7 weeks out so eating regular foods now. I honestly eat about 7-8 times a day cuz after 4-6 bites, I can't eat anymore - but then I'm hungry 90 minutes later. My dr said I should be eating 3 meals by now but how can I live on less than 450 calories forever (and thats including my Protein shake)? I've added up my 4-6 bites x 3+ my Protein shake and it totally less than 450 calories. That can't be right that he wants me to eat so little. So I eat when I'm hungry, which is more often than with my band. I've been bouncing between the same 1 lb fr 2 weeks now. Maybe I'm eating too much? Plan on kicking my cardio up on Monday and hoping that helps cuz I can't eat much less.

So I understand why 3 meals sounds so daunting. not sure someone can actually live by eating 5 bites 3x a day???

Good luck!

I eat four meals a day, and plan them carefully so I get 20 grams of Protein with each meal. Some days I have a snack or two as well, so if you count every time I eat that would be 5-6 times a day.

If I only ate three times a day there would be no way I would get in my protein!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
