Honestly depends on the moment. Every day definitely gets easier. I do get tired quickly but i did before surgery also because of the weight so that is no surprise. Go to the surgeon this afternoon for my one week post OP followup

HI Emma,

Welcome to NH. I moved here from MA, but from the South Shore in 1999. I have just started the journey towards gastric bypass myself.

Thanks Chyrstine...actually I'm a NH resident moving home...lived in MA for 3 years and before that NH for 20+, so glad to be back. Good luck with your surgery. Are you by chance with the Center for Weight Management out of Lowell General? They have been absolutely wonderful through the band process and went to bat for me to push for approval to convert from the band to the sleeve. Can't speak highly enough about them.

Hi, I'm from Salem MA and am scheduled to get the sleeve on 12/9 as well. I had a band in 2007 but had lots of problems with it, finally slipped and needed to have it out in April this year. Had to wait for inflammation to settle down and then work through the program and the 90 days my insurance required. I'm doing my surgery at North Shore Medical Center in Salem, MA. Nice to meet you guys.

Nice to meet you as well. It is really nice to know you are not alone. I absolutely love the team I have at LGH, but they don't really elude to patients that number of conversions for bariatric patients from band to sleeve is rising...not just with this team but as a whole. From what I have seen out there...the number is growing. Can't go back, but if I knew what I know now, I would have been all over the sleeve as my first choice. I wanted the least invasive of the three surgeries, so opted for the band...which by the way at this moment...feel it is the most work and most challenging to hit your weight goal...just my thought based on my experience.

It sucks what insurances put you through.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
