You can shower right after surgery and can swim when the incisions heal over (about 2 weeks if all goes well). Nothing is stupid here. Only advice is not to "expect" any particular weight loss in any timeframe. Everyone is different! Your insurance will "control" the timeframe. Doing all my preps took 5 and 1/2 months. Many 6, some 12. -- those are months before surgery. BUT you CAN lose weight while you prepare, of course! And remember the sleeve is FOREVER, so in the worst case, if not THIS summer, shoot for the next!!!

I'd say yes, with conditions. It's really up to you! I started my preop diet 2 weeks early because I couldn't stand waiting.

If you make good choices pre and post op, and you get your body moving now, you should be able to get on any ride you want by summer depending on how you have to lose. (You have no stats listed, so I don't know if you have. 100 pounds to lose or 500. :) )

Everyone loses at different rates but there is no reason you can't get where you need to be if you dedicate yourself now.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
