beebs13 48 Posted August 30, 2013 So after two weeks of liquid diet, prepping and planning for support and care for myself and my kids, as well as prepping myself mentally for this surgery, I woke up from anesthesia with no sleeve. They found a tumor in the base of my stomach. I have to see a gastroenterologist and have a biopsy done. Once everything is ok and the tumor is removed I can proceed with the sleeve. I'm sad, disappointed. I cried so much in the hospital, the nurses were so nice to me. Good news is the surgeon said that from the look of it, it looks benign. Im calling the specialist tomorrow to see how soon they can get me in. Hoping for the best!

All that prepping... but I was told the same thing by my doc..even if the CT Scan & MRI doesn't show anything, there could still be something there when he goes in...especially with my cancer history. Here's hoping it all works out quickly and you can get your sleeve and start your journey. Stay positive.
BayshoreBuddy 58 Posted August 30, 2013 Unbelievable, how small was the hospital? It's a shame there were no attending gastroenterologists, who could have assisted your bariatric surgeon in removing the tumor (including it in the 80% removal) and completed the sleeve. Will you be billed for the non-procedure? 1 Recycled reacted to this
MIJourney 490 Posted August 30, 2013 Hope every thing goes smoothly for you. Good thing you were scheduled for the sleeve though otherwise it may have been longer before they knew you had a tumor 1 beebs13 reacted to this
Teachamy 1,042 Posted August 30, 2013 I am SO SORRY! I was scheduled for surgery on July 31st, and in my meeting with my surgeon, she realized I had Atrial fibrillation. Had it not been found, I very well could have had a stroke. I was sad and depressed for a good month after I had a heart procedure to correct the problem. Now I hope to have surgery in December, if at all possible. I am trusting in the process. I guess we were both lucky, it's just hard to accept that sometimes. Best of luck to you! 2 beebs13 and kristikay reacted to this

LifetimeLoser 208 Posted August 30, 2013 That must feel awful! I'm sorry to hear that, but you found something you didn't know was there and now you can take care of it...whatever it is. Soon you will be on your way to being sleeved. 1 beebs13 reacted to this

I will call the surgeons office tomorrow.

Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted August 30, 2013 It really sucks to wake up with no sleeve. But this has probably saved your life for sure. The sleeve will come later so hang in there. 2 ArnoldS and beebs13 reacted to this
