pjknitts 47 Posted August 30, 2013 I am 2.5 weeks post-op and feeling better compared to the last 2 weeks. I'm starting to feel guilty that I'm not doing more around the house my kitchen is a disaster my husband works long hours and then he comes home and takes care of my daughter and I. Am I not getting in enough Protein? Or is my body still recovering from major surgery?
gamergirl 4,610 Posted August 30, 2013 I am 2.5 weeks post-op and feeling better compared to the last 2 weeks. I'm starting to feel guilty that I'm not doing more around the house my kitchen is a disaster my husband works long hours and then he comes home and takes care of my daughter and I. Am I not getting in enough Protein? Or is my body still recovering from major surgery? I was the same way! It took me the whole three weeks to get back to work properly. We were both constantly feeling bad that the house was a mess. But we were having to sit down so we didn't pass out in the middle of doing the dishes so.... I still felt guilty I wasn't working full time. This week I went back to it and let me tell you! I am ready! But I definitely wasn't last week. When you are up to it, you will naturally get up and start doing your fair share (unless you were always a lazy person ) 1 pjknitts reacted to this
daadelishopeful 64 Posted August 30, 2013 No guilt! You just had major surgery and the healing process is both physical and mental(emotional as well). Give yourself grace. You will know when you feel up to doing more. I would suggest you just take it easy. The kitchen and cleaning can wait a bit. You don't want to over do it. Recovery happens at different speeds for everyone. I thought I would be back to work 4-6 weeks post op, but I am just now getting to a point were I can keep food and fluids down and have some energy. I am getting bored to be home, so that is a good sign that I am getting ready to go back to work. Plus I think I have become addicted to this forum, and I think I need to redirect my focus a bit. But take your time to heal. 2 pjknitts and gamergirl reacted to this
TJL 222 Posted August 30, 2013 Everyone recovers at a different rate. Do not push yourself or you will set yourself back. Do what you can and don't feel guilty about hubby helping out, I'm sure you would do it for him if the tables were turned. Everyday will be a bit better, you just have to give it time. 2 pjknitts and gamergirl reacted to this
Pinky Green 260 Posted August 30, 2013 I went back to work at 3 weeks and was glad I took the whole 3 weeks. Although I wasn't in pain, I don't think I could have sat for 8 hours with a headset on with only 2 fifteen minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch. I don't think I was feeling completely better for a couple of months. I wasn't really able to start exercising much until I got down below 180 lbs. Then all of a sudden I got my knees back. Now I'm able to walk a mile and back but I've only really been able to walk for the last 2 months or so. 1 pjknitts reacted to this
vsginkc 117 Posted August 30, 2013 Agree with all that has been said. I met with my surgeon today and he reiterated that this was major surgery. Be gentle with yourself. You'll turn that corner soon. 2 gamergirl and pjknitts reacted to this
