Sick and Foamy--Suggestions?

Recommended Posts

Hello guys. I'm brand new, almost three weeks post-op.

I'm still trying to learn how to eat, but almost every time I eat solid food I get really, really sick. I get very nauseaous, my chest gets tight and I need to throw up. When I do, most of the time, it's just foam/froth. Sometimes it will be food as well, but it's mostly just froth. It doesn't happen with liquid or anything super soft (yogurt, pudding, etc.) but almost always with solids.

What is up and how long with this last? It's getting a bit old. :(

Thanks for any replies!

That happened to me when I ate too fast and too much.

As @ernestine suggests, eat slower, eat less. The two times I've gotten the foamies it's been because I've either eaten too fast or too much. Also, if solid food isn't agreeing with you, it won't hurt you to go back to purees for a week and then try introducing soft foods again, slowly. Good luck to you!

Do a search here for the term: sliming. As mentioned, it occurs when you eat too fast, too big of a bite or don't chew your food enough.

try a slug of Mylanta, it helps - be aware that there is magnesium in there and that can loosen the stool (for me a good thing) but it really helps to settle my stomach when I forget to eat slowly, an old habit, still trying to break it.

It's eating too much and too fast :) I was having this for months after surgery, even went and had a scope b/c i thought maybe scar tissue was making me spit up. NO. I was just still not used to eating how i needed to. I can go weeks now with no issues, but whenever i have a random slime fest, i am always to blame :)
