When were you able to lie on your side again?

Recommended Posts

I am a side sleeper and my back is killing me from being in the recliner and in bed. I need to start moving more, I know! Just curious, though, when it was comfortable for others to sleep on their sides?

I slept on my side the entire time was in the hospital and every night since. I'm still surprised by that but so pleased.

I was in the hospital one night. Started sleeping on my side the 1st night I was home.

It was a b***h getting in and out of bed the 1st few days from the soreness from the incisions.

I slept on my side from night 1. Try putting a pillow beneath your stomach to support it.

I was able to lay on my right side night 1 but not me left until around night 9. I am a left side sleeper so once I was able to get on that side, I slept like a big ole baby!!

It took me 2 weeks before I could sleep on my side without feeling like I was twisting something. The first week I slept sitting up on the couch with my feet on the ottoman.

I haven't been sleeved yet but I had a c section and my gallbladder removed in the same month. I used a pillow wedge I purchased at babies r us. Helped a ton for support!!! Just lay on your favorite side and tuck that sucker in between the bed and your stomach. It wasn't very expensive and came in a neutral color. I guess its used for when pregnant bellies get too heavy but using it after two surgeries worked just as well for me

Thanks all of you. I will keep trying. Thanks for the suggestions of a pillow between the bed and tummy, maybe that will help me sooner rather than later!

I can easily sleep on my right side. Not so much on the left side. I tested it by putting a pillow behind one of my sides And it lifted that side up enough that I wasn't flat on my back or straight on my side. I was sleeved Tuesday.

I was just sleeved yesterday so still in the hospital. I've layed on my side the whole time. Even on my tummy.

About a full 2 weeks because the pain was one sided then at times both sides. I used to get intense pains on my incisions for no reason at all.

Probably 5-7 days out, but I also put a pillow between my legs. It seems to help keep my body more aligned and hurts less.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
