I'm having some trouble

Recommended Posts

I'm 5 months out. I've done pretty good. I've lost 110lbs. Recently, the last 3ish days, I don't wanna eat. At all. It's like it makes me sick to even think about eating. It's not really a physical thing, like I eat too much and then I'm sick... It's more, I know I need to way something, I'll make something, take one bite (if even) and it's just disgusting. I've tried switching it up to the max. I even "allowed" myself to have ANYTHING I wanted today. I choose pizza. I had one bite, and put the rest in the fridge for hubby. I find myself getting super dizzy and lightheaded, which I'm sure is from lack of nutrients.. What do I do?! NOTHING is good! I've told myself, "just do it.. You know you HAVE to eat".. But one bite and I get so repulsed, I just can't do it.

Is it just mentally repulsed or are there any physical symptoms? Do you get any unpleasant sensations (not necessarily painful or uncomfortable) when whatever you swallow moves toward your stomach? Any nausea? Either way, you should call your surgeons office. Seriously. There could be something that's off just a little bit that could be addressed and make you feel so much better. Also, serious nutrient deficiencies/dehydration is nothing to play with. If you haven't had your gallbladder out, that might be something to investigate as well.

And really? 110 pounds in 5 months is "pretty good"? You need to give yourself more credit. That is freaking awesome!

Congratulations and good luck! I hope that you are able to get it figured out soon. You certainly can't safely go along as described for very long.

Sounds like you are stressed and tired of eating hows everything else going for you? To be honest I have felt like this several times and had to force myself to eat. I would really get like this during week 3 and I always feel like I just ate a meal and sick after taking meds. Have you been sleeved or Lap band?

Thank you! It's mentally repulsed, but I feel if I eat anything I'm going to throw up. Hard to explain I guess. I'll eat, a bite or two, and I just don't want it so much that my mouth starts watering and I know if I have to taste "that" again, it's coming back up. It's so weird. My gallbladder is gone, has been since 2011... I'm not really stressed any more than normal every day life things that I'm always stressed about. Guess I'll give my Dr a call tomorrow!

I had the sleeve. I'm not really stressed tho. Life's pretty much the same as always. I'll call my Dr tomorrow I suppose!

Interesting. I sometimes feel this too, but not for as long as you've experienced. I do wonder if my food addiction will 'switch' to a food phobia or anorexic type of disorder. Sometimes I feel anxious about eating, and since I don't feel hunger (at least not yet) it's easy for me to forget to eat. Since I tend to lose in short bursts and then plateau for a few weeks it kind of reinforces my desire not to eat. I can usually get down a Protein shake during these times, as I know I cannot go down that path. But it can be a struggle. Other times I want to binge! But thankfully my sleeve won't let me. Food issues can really mess with your head! I'm a believer in therapy, so that's my safety net. That, and a great NUT.

I hope you find an answer soon, and can get back to a healthy diet & feel better. Please keep us posted.

Oh no. Quite the opposite actually. Wondering if my "monthly gift" may be to blame, but this certainly isn't the first time I've had it since surgery, and it's never happened before...

I've not seen my NUT since surgery. Or my Dr for that matter. Should probably get on that. Thanks for the advice!

Have you been taking your Vitamins? I feel like that when I've forgotten to take them for a couple of days.

I haven't been sleeved yet but I feel similar to what you've described at least 2 days out of every month and it's almost always related to my hormones and cycle.

Made a Dr appointment! Hopefully they'll run some labs and see what's up. My NUT is thinking its hormonal tho. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
