Has anyone got the book advertised on here about the sleeve?

Recommended Posts

I want to get the book and the two other "what others bought along with this book" on Amazon. Is it worth the money or is there a better book all about the Sleeve, pre-op, post-op, what to expect before and after the procedure. What you will be eating and how long before resuming some other foods besides soft foods, etc...Thanks

Anything sleeve specific is better. Many have bought the book and said nothing but good things about it.

I got it two weeks before my surgery. It was very informational. Some of the stuff was different frm what my NUT stated in the handouts, so I am following the NUT rules and guidlines but crossrefrencing the book. I also had my husband read in case he had any questions that he didn't want to ask me personally. It gave him much better insight to the whole process.

I have bought 11 books for my iPad. I am not sure which one you are talking about. I learned something from all of them. I go a bit OCD when I research things. The one by Duc Vuong. I thought was excellent. Also one called. Emotional First Aid.

Yep. I bought the sleeve book as the download version. Very informative. I know that once I am on the far side of the sleeve, I will refer to it more. I also bought the Emotional First Aid. That one was recommended for my bariatric program.

http://www.amazon.com/Before-After-Living-Eating-Surgery/dp/0060567228 I love this book. I bought it for my best friend when he has his bypass, and then he bought me a copy when I had my band. There are some great recipes, and helpful info in the original book, and now there is a 2nd edition.

I just got them both. The gastric sleeve book I ordered the paperback before I realized that I can download Kindle on my iPhone and laptop. So I had also purchased a few other books. I like this kindle app. :)

I ordered Duc Vuong book by kindle on my iPhone and laptop yesterday. I can't put it down, I read every minute I get. I like his book. Also got the Emotional First Aid as well. Will start that one very soon. Thank you for your advise. :)

I have a Nook and buy my books from Barnesandnoble.com. My fav sleeve book has been "The Sleeved Life" by Pennie Nicola. It was only $3.99. Haven't read the book from Alex Brecher (the one on this site) yet but I really should. Think I've read everything there is to know about the sleeve. At this point everything I read is redundant. have about 6 sleeve books on my Nook.

Luv my Nook. bring it with me everywhere, since it fits in my purse. Do you have a Kindle (amazon.com was the hint!). How do u like it?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
