I have not really had a pain problem post surgery but I have noticed that when I bend over I have a sharp pain on my right hand side. It is not excruciating, but it is enough to make me make a sound, and it does hurt. I know that the right side is where they take the stomach out and it can be more painful, and while this incision is painful when I stand up, or other odd times, this hurts more than it normally does, I almost feel like my stomach flips over when I bend over. I would just not bend over but that is pretty hard at this point. It does not feel better to crouch down because my whole big stomach scrunches into a large mass in front of me. Does this happen for a while in the beginning?

My pain on that side was due to a pulled muscle. My Dr told me how they actually take the stomach out and well, let's just say, after that visual, I understood why that side hurt.

Try to take it easy and maybe use a heating pad or warm rag when you finally get to sit and relax. It will pass, mine took a couple weeks, but it finally went away.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
