4 weeks Post OP..Scar looks like 2nd belly button!

Recommended Posts

Help! Is this normal? Will it resolve itself?? My main scar (where the stomach was removed) right above my belly button is stuck to the underlying tissue. It looks like a second belly button! Will I have to have another procedure to loosen it up?

Once your incisions are totally healed, you can massage them with cocoa butter. Apply Mederma, (I use the Target brand). My incisions healed beautifully. I'm sure in a few months, all but one will be totally invisible. The largest one will be a faint horizontal line about an inch long. My surgery was Aug. 1st.

None of my scars from this surgery were like that, but I had an ovary removed in 2011 and one of my scars from that was like you describe. After a few months it loosened up on its own, and I seriously can't even see it anymore unless I really look.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm using the topical scar stuff and am not really worried too much about the appearance of the skin. That looks pretty good. Internally the scar is sticking to the fascia underneath and causing an indentation...like a belly button. I'll try massage to see if that helps. It also hurts when I stretch because the skin is sticking to the tissue underneath and not moving.

Mine is noticeable and next to my belly button. Over time my scars tend to brighten up and become almost invisible.

I think it depends on how your body normally heals its scars.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
