Recycled 2,182 Posted August 27, 2013 Nope! as in no, it does not mean you won't get your surgery. In fact, it's likely the surgeon will repair the HH during your VSG. At least that is what mine told me. Even said it was so routine that they commonly discover a patients has a hiatal hernia during VSG and must repair it before proceeding. 1 ★D's Life★ reacted to this

Bufflehead 6,358 Posted August 27, 2013 I had a small hiatal hernia that was discovered in my upper GI series. Surgeon fixed it in surgery, took him about three minutes. 1 ★D's Life★ reacted to this

Jen35 283 Posted August 27, 2013 Agreed. 2 for 1 surgery here! I had really bad reflux for many years and didn't realize it was a hernia. I was too chicken to get the endoscopy before. Surgeon required the endoscopy and found the hernia. He repaired it and I haven't had an issue with reflux since. Wonderful!! 1 ★D's Life★ reacted to this

Pookeyism 1,143 Posted August 27, 2013 It means there is a good chance, depending of course on your insurance, and whether or not you were using it, that you will have at least part of the surgery paid for. Keep on top of it, the covered procedures can be alot higher for hernia repairs than to assist with the VSG (so I have been told). 1 ★D's Life★ reacted to this
