Bronnie I can totally understand wanting to get everything done as fast as possible so don't forget to fast the day you see the physician so that you can have the blood tests the same day to get the results faster as they can't schedule anything usually until they have those results. I met my surgeon for the first time on the Wednesday, saw the physician on the Friday and it was a 10am appointment so i hadn't eaten yet (lucky - got tests the same day!) then I saw the dietitian and psychologist both on the Saturday (cancellation appointments, otherwise i would have had to wait 8 weeks to get into see the psychologist).... so less than a week after meeting the surgeon I was back in there with all the test results and booking my surgery.

Everything was soooo slow with the first surgeon I saw (and didn't go with) it was painful - i'm not a fan of incompetence it drives me crazy. To be banded by him would have been a 6+ month process. I'm all about efficiency!!

From the time i rang and made the appointment to the time i see the surgeon on the 12/2 will be 7 weeks. I found out through this site that id need to see a dietician and physician so i rang the clinic back and they gave me the contact details for both so i rang and booked in for them on 14/2. I recently had blood tests and will take those results. if they require i have more i will take your advise and fast on that day, thanks. I dont know if i have to see a psychologist??!!!

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...... ive got my fingers crossed that i dont have to have sleep study tests. Ive got a lower BMI 37 and ive had a laproscopic procedure before so lets hope.

I hate waiting.............. i feel fatter than i ever have at the moment. There is a slim person in this body and i want to be introduced to her NOW!!!! I think we will be great friends :D

Thanks fee... had a feeling you'd be on line to answer that one. I just hope it all runs smoothly and in no time i have an op date.

I actually went for a job yesterday for a pharmaceutical company and was told that i didnt fit the profile... why didnt they just say ' sorry, your fat!!". I know that was the reason. Ever see a fat sales rep..... oh no!! expecially when it was in the area of health. I did see the girl that did get the job......... tall, tanned and thin. :cry

Not good to hear about the job you went for...thats discrimination...but yeah like u said they wouldnt say it any other way. Some ppl just look for the looks and not what the experience is or the personality of the person is...they should never judge a book by its cover...old saying:heh:

Keep your chin up Bron..im sure u will find something better....and when your nice and slim walk back in there and tell them what they have lost and they made the biggest mistake not hiring you:)

Oh Bronnie that sucks about the job, but I know you don't want to work for a company that hires people for their looks and not their qualifications. Hang in there, everything will fall into place before you know it!

Seriously, when you go see your surgeon, just explain to him how commited you are to this and how ready you are, show him that you are in the right place mentally and emotionally to start this new chapter of your life. Thats what I did with my surgeon, pretty much begged him and I think that had some effect on how soon he could fit me in (might have also helped that my Dad had already been banded by him too).

I'll show them... in a year or two... i'll apply again if a similar job is available using maybe my maiden name . Then i'll walk in thin and beautiful and have the pleasure of telling them where to go assuming i get the job.

Im not overly upset... just proves that looks go a long way in this world. Maybe i'll get the boob job down the track!!

fee... i was actually joking about the boob job!!! then again maybe one day down the track i may consider it.

I was trying to state... that a nice thin body and nicely shaped boobs get you a long way in life. Hopefully it will get me a long way :heh:

Sadly boobs and an itty bitty waist can get you everywhere in this life.... I didn't used to really believe it was really that simple (just liked to pretend those people had it so easy) but i'm there and almost sickend by how differently people treat you.... Especially sales people. The $$$ i spent on reconstruction have more than paid for themselves already - I swear the girls are like a walking discount card.... and of course the "nipples like bullets" you end up with for 6 months after surgery get you a long way too - sad to see those go back to normal :(

Fee hope you get that boob job when you get to your goal - a great reward for all your wl efforts.

I'm no where near goal (and have only been banded 2 months), but I lost most of my weight in my pre op and immediately post op stage. I lost 5 kilos between my first and second fill (which was 30 days) and my Dr said that was on the high end of loss for a month. He said at that rate (giving room for it slowing slightly to an average of 2-3 kilos a month), I should be at goal before next Xmas. I'm hoping I might be there soon than that - I've only got 25 kilos to go (ha! ONLY 25!!)!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
