Hey Loretta, Could you get the shakes on Ebay? Maybe someone could check that out for you. Sometimes people go nuts stocking up on heaps of shakes, then they change their mind and sell boxes of them off on Ebay.

I found the cheapest place for the Optifast was the Chemist Warehouse. They were 40 bucks for a weeks supply. You can also get bars and Soups, although I didn't try those.

I might hold you to that too Bronnie, I'm heading down to Melbourne for a long weekend in March!!

The Optifast bars were a god send for me, it was good to actually chew something, and they are quite yummy too!!

Susannah,

good thinking 99 !.. might give ebay a try. We have a warehouse just up the road too . I will get the Optifast there if thats what i decide on. I checked it out yesterday at the terry white chemist and it was $53 a box:omg: losing weight can get expensive hey? lol

Bronnie, i made an appointment for last june but chickened out at the last minute. Had to wait till november to rebook so yeh... sorta been waiting 8 months..partly my own fault obviously. I could kick myself when i think i could have been banded by now:phanvan

Well i too initially made an appointment to see Dr nottle at the start of october 2006 but did as you did Loretta and chickened out. This was mainly due to the negativity around me from others. The i decided... hey!! this is my life and i want this so i rebooked in December and finally my 1st consult is Monday.

Loretta.... do you have another appointment to see Dr Nottle?? if so... you too may get an actual date. Mid-year isnt far away.

OMG... i posted on one of the yahoo sites and came across a b**ch. I did the 2 sleeps until etc and asked a few questions. This person replie 1/ not answering my questions 2/ instead saying i sounded like a child at Christmas so she would play mum and then proceededed to go on about the journey and to be patient and cherish every moment bla bla bla.

I posted back to the group: I may sound like an excited child but thats because im very excited and id appreciate if people only repliy to my posts if they can answer the questions. Since then ive had a lot of helpful posts. Havernt seen her post again... wonder why. Im finding that other site can be very nasty ie noticed people getting blasted if they go off topics. ie mentioning Tummy Tuck when the topic was lapbanding.... maybe im slow and my uni degrees fell out of a weetbix packet but... isnt it all related....

AH... some people. Thats it im sticking with my friends ( all of you) and staying clear from the other aussie sites.

--------------------------------------------------------------

1 more sleep to Dr Nottle

3 more sleeps to see the Dietician and Physician

Bronnie that sucks!! I don't understand why people have to be like that!! You can be as excited as you like with us, because WE are excited for you too!!!! I almost want to ask which forum is was so I can STAY AWAY FROM IT!! I only post VERY rarely on another Aussie forum when I have a super serious question (like I did the other day about some medication I am on) because my Dr's consultant is the moderator of that forum and she is awesome, but I have decided from now on I am going to call her, because it took her a few days to reply and I needed a quicker response hehe. They can be pretty serious over there too, at times.

There are some control freaks out there in internet-land aren't there??? I don't really think that a TT is off topic when it comes to weight loss suregry though - its kind of part of the process for a lot of people when they reach their goal weight! People are nuts.

*hides behind something big with all you guys so no one can be nasty to any of us * hahahaha

Hey Bronnie, Funny you should mention this, because yesterday I was reading that board and getting such an unpleasant vibe from it. Sorry that I referred you to it, I just thought maybe you could chat with other Dr Nottle patients.

I will be staying away from it also from now on.

Yay one more sleep for the Bronster!!!!:biggrin1:  :biggrin1:

Meredith thanks for the advice!:);)

I would be happy to have a meet up with everybody here at some stage if you would all like. Meredith you are in Melbourne in March right? We could go out to eat, with our one saucer with two peas each on it! LOL!:biggrin1:

im over it now... just a bit disappointed to get a reply to a post like i did on the other site. Maybe she just needs to 'take a chill pill'. She has since replied back saying she didnt mean to be precieved like she obviously has been and actually attempted to answer my questions. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Im a bit down also after reading a post on the other site... it said that the average waiting time for the op for a private patient with Dr Nottle post initial consult is 6-8 weeks. Im going to go nuts if i have to wait longer than 2-3 weeks :help:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
