susannah 2 Posted January 17, 2007 Hi, what foods do you miss/can't stomache anymore? I think I can give up just about anything, but I am going to really miss bread! I love bread so much. chocolate etc will be easy for me to give up. I think I got fat from eating lots of good continental food like breads, cheeses, cakes etc. Say it ain't so, no bread of any kind any more?! Susannah
susannah 2 Posted January 17, 2007 Hi Bronnie, You can only have the vegies that are allowed as per the list. I am coping with it so far, as I am determined to make it. Others have so I should be able to as well. I think it can't hurt to be on a liquid diet pre surgery. Someone may have a lower bmi but that may not mean that they don't have a fatty liver. I don't drink, and I ate more carbs than fried food. So who is to say my liver is any worse than that of others? Can't wait for more variety in the post op liquid phase! Just over two weeks to go till banding day. Susannah
Jachut 487 Posted January 17, 2007 As far as I'm aware you dont get anything back from the $3,000 as that's the surgeon's "profit" - he doesnt attach a medicare item to it so you get nothing back - and then he just bulkbills you from thereon in.
susannah 2 Posted January 17, 2007 Hey, Just saw that my joining date for this site was February 2004! I have been thinking about getting banded since 2003. I take my time. Susannah

As ive said before i see Dr Nottle on 12/2 and the dietician and physician on 14/2. Will i then need to see Dr Nottle again or will he just book me in for the surgery once physician is seen and contact me??? I just hate this waiting game. TaNgLe 0 Posted January 17, 2007 Hi Bronnie, I'm not sure how Dr Nottle charges. Like i said, so far all i have had to pay is the $80 for the dietician and about $100 out of pocket expenses for the pysician . dr Nottle is bulk billing all of mine as i am a single parent. My girlfriend went to see him last month and was told she had to pay for the first consultation which was $150 then after that it is bulked billed with a waiting list of about 6 months.. so i dont get why everyone is paying different amounts ? Whatever the costs thought,a healthier life and being able to feel comfortable in ourselves again is whats most important :scared: have a good day all and hope u r all feeling a little cooler
bronnie70 0 Posted January 17, 2007 I have to pay $120- for first consult with Dr Nottle on 12/2 and $80- for the dietician on 14/2. mmmmm.... if i have to see Dr Nottle again for the results from the physician (who i see on 14/2), i really hope they dont make me wait another 8 weeks to get into see him again. I thought because i was going private that when i rang to book into see Dr Nottle for the initial consult that i would basically get in within 1-2 weeks maximum but its an 8 week wait for me ( Yes Tangle!!! 25 more sleeps left). susannah 2 Posted January 18, 2007 Hi Girls, As I said previously this has been a long process for me, basically having first considered it in 2003. I started all the appointments last july, and I will be banded in a fortnight. It is important for me to get banded, but I just went with the flow re the appointments. tarajane 0 Posted January 18, 2007 My d i l had to pay $190 for Dr. Nottle's physician who was in Queens rd melb. Think she said she will get something like $130 back. The dietician was $80 with nothing back. Dr. Nottle bulk billed the initial consult as she is on a Heath care card.
bronnie70 0 Posted January 18, 2007 mmmm... i must ring the physicians office in spotswood prior to my appointment with him on 14/2 to find out if there is a cost. I forgot to ask when i initially booked in for the appointment. Ive decided once i have an operation date, i will start on Optifast a few weeks prior even if Dr Nottle doesnt insist. Read all the benefits to be on it pre-op so might as well give it a shot.
