blj5362 0 Posted January 15, 2007 Yes I felt horribly weak that first week or so after surgery. I couldn't get my liquids in either the only thing that actually saved me I think was the sugar free popsicles. I would let them melt in my mouth and finally I started to feel stronger each day. The gas pains well I had them bad. I had to learn to walk walk walk and the more I did the better I felt and the more gas I was able to release. Also some of the GasX disolable tabs helped some. kim2bhealthy 3 Posted January 15, 2007 Justine.. It will get better, I think everyone feels terrible the first few days. Just sip away at the liquids and the popcicles are a good idea too. Good luck to you and welcome to bandland!
LapBandit 5 Posted January 15, 2007 hi was just banded on jan 11 and iam feeling miserable i cant seem to get the required amount of liquids in without having some kind of pain, gas pain are killing me I;m feeling weak and today i only got 15oz of liquids in. did any body feel like I'm feeling now,:help: please help. The time period following surgery is rough, especially if you're having the gas problem just as I did. Try to experiment with your liquids...maybe you'll find a difference between drinking warmer or cooler liquids...you'll find something that makes it easier to get the liquids down. It's really very important to drink liquids. Your healing will be slower if you get dehydrated and malnourished. Please try to get in more than 15 oz of liquids. Perhaps you can call your doctor's office for advice? Plus a tip from my recovery...warm liquids went down better and I got a lot of comfort from sipping sugar free hot cocoa the first few days. (I hate coffee and tea!) The gas pains WILL get better. Walking, gas X and a warm compresses (hot Water bottle) really helped with the pain. Plus, focusing on getting in enough liquids for nourishment will also help get your body into "healing mode" which will help your body push out that gas. Hang in there and stay positive. This is the start to a wonderful journey and once you're past this hump you'll start feeling great! This is a temporary stage to a bigger payoff! Good luck and let us know how you're doing!
