mel959 8 Posted August 26, 2013 Question. My surgery is in oct. I quit smoking today. Im dying... can I do ecigarettes? Just lowering dose until surgery to the 0.00 mg nicotine up to a week or two before surgery,
JoiaRox 430 Posted August 26, 2013 My doc was fine with eCigs (I'm "vaping" the highest nicotine mg) - heck, I vaped in my recovery room. He thinks nicotine will eventually be proven to be as safe as caffeine...it's the 4,000+ toxins and tar in cigarettes that are damaging (especially post-op). I'd ask your doctor, to be sure, but mine was absolutely fine with the switch. He now recommends it to other sleeve patients after seeing my success! 1 mel959 reacted to this
endless80 697 Posted August 26, 2013 Okay I am going to toss my opinion about the ecig out there. It's just another way to stay addicted to nicotine. I was a smoker for 10+ years, a pack a day sometimes more. I quit cold turkey in January of this year. Its only bad if you let it be. If you're serious about your health then suck it up and quit. Most surgeons will refuse to do the surgery if nicotine is even found in your body. You might think you're suffering now but hang in there. It's temporary.
