I wouldn't even worry about it. Just have fun. I've been on 4 cruises in the past 3 yrs (was banded for almost 4 yrs) and never gained a pound. We ate in the dining room every morning and nite and the buffet for lunch. They have healthy choices in both (fish, chicken, salad bar, Soup, steak, fresh fruit, eggs, etc). They also have a gym (we looked at it once! :) )if you'd like to work out.

What line r u going on? We always go on Carnival and luv it. Never been to the East Coast cruises (have done 3 to Mexico -2 different areas - and the most recent in May to Alaska). We'd luv to do a Carribean or Bahama one, but alas the airfaire to Miami is daunting.

Have fun and don't worry about tracking. You'll stress yourself out. Your body will tell you when it's had enuf. Our first cruise I actually lost 2 lbs. Didn't know I got seasick till it was too late...hint: Ask your doc for a behind the ear Scopolamine patch (same stuff drs use the night before surgery for post surgery nausea)

Have fun!

you could always use paper and pen to write it down and stroke tally the liquids (if you want).

Just do what you've been doing. Eat Protein first and drink plenty of Water.< /p>

You won't be able to go "overboard" (hehehe) if you stick with your guidelines.

Have a great time!

Ok. I am the cruise queen - I have 4 scheduled between now and January (which is part of the reason I can't have my surgery until January)

Anyway, call the cruise line special needs department. They will help set up a menu for you. They will make dishes low carb, sugar free Desserts, gluten free, lactose free - whatever you need they will help you.

I didn't even know they had a special needs dept. Not sure why it's necesary, however. They have plenty of healthy choices. I ate lots of fish, chicken and veggies. Even the endless buffet has healthy choices.

And carnival does a chocolate bar on one day of the cruise. Over 150 things of chocolate. A must do! You're on a cruise. Just enjoy yourself.

Well for example, I will be on "mushies" when I am on a cruise next February, So I am working with the special needs department to have small portions of very soft dishes prepared so that I can somewhat blend in with the rest of the table and be a part of the dinner festivities. Now, if I were farther along at that time and I could eat more foods, then you are right, it wouldn't be necessary to have a special menu.

What a coincidence, we are leaving on the 31st. Good luck to you too, have fun. I was sleeve on June 10th. So far I could eat anything except bread Pasta lettuce and beef... All in small portions. I trained myself to eye my plate and put only what I'll be able to eat because I have the clean plate bad custom ( thanks mom). Hopefully I'll be able to do that at the cruise but I'll miss my mu fitness pal .. Usually At the end of the day I check my Protein intake and drink a shake if I am too to short.,, paying for Internet at board is to expensive:-(

Ok, I see. I didn't know you know you would be on mushies. You haven't had ur surgery yet, then? I had no idea that the cruise line would make special dishes for you. I guess it's like the airlines serving Kosher meals or vegetarian meals. Have fun on ur cruise! They're amazing! Which line r u going on? we've done 4 cruises with Carnival and have absolutely no regrets (even tho they've been in the news alot lately!). We luv them!

I was sleeved June 11th and also can eat anything but bread, Pasta, rice, salad and beef. I'm lucky if I get 4 or 5 bites down at each setting. I can't do Protein shakes, they make me sick so I try sticking to only Protein foods. I love my fitness pal and am also going to miss my Internet while gone. Do you mind me asking how much you've lost so far?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
