Black Diamond - Really? I was sleeved the same day and I'm on soft/mushies. So boiled, scrambled, and egg salad, tuna salad, oatmeal, anything I can put thru the blender and make mushy.

What's getting to me though is coffee. ugh 2 times now, within an hour I'm in the bathroom. I saw a mug at 5 Below the other day that I'm thinking of getting now. It said "Coffee Makes Me Poop".

My nurse practitioner said we absolutely CAN get dumping. I get it. Mine is associated with too much fat. For the first several months whenever I ate dinner outside of my house I immediately had to lay down...chills, rapid heartbeat, bathroom visits frequently. It's subsided a little now, but I'm a lot more careful of what/how much I eat while away from home. Some docs say this does not happen outside of the bypass, but there's no other name for this.

Yes, I do - and I'm over a year out.

There is some new research into this. Where they THOUGHT it wouldn't cause it, they are now finding it does cause dumping in most cases.

I am fine with non-refined sweeteners like honey, coconut sugar, etc. But refined white sugar and corn Syrup are what really get me.

Nothing fatty or fried for me. Only took one lesson to teach me the hard way. I never did throw up but I walked around holding it back for 2 hours. Ugh it was awful. Can have a bite or two of sweets but not a lot. No bread or I am in pain. No seafood anymore as it tastes downright awful to me now. Lettuce ....... I may as well eat it while sitting on the toilet.

But, if you look at what I listed, it's nothing to be overly upset about. It's things I shouldn't be eating (minus the seafood) anyways.

Oh this is Well Said!!!

I mean, we might 'mentally miss' some foods, but we can live without them, right?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
