skinnygirlinside 60 Posted August 26, 2013 I will be 7 months post op on 8/31/13 and have lost 66 lbs. so far. I am a little bummed cause I am not losing much. I am battling thyroid issues as well. Had total thyroidectomy 5 years ago and now with the weight loss my levels are all out of wack. I am guessing that probably has a lot to do with it. I have people all the time tell me how great I look but I still see myself as "fat" and I hate that. When will I ever be " normal" or will I ever?
time4me2013 20 Posted August 26, 2013 You've lost a little over 9lbs a month on average. That is great! I think once you get down to your goal weight you'll still see yourself as "fat" for awhile...or at least that is what I hear. I have thyroid problems as well, so I can sympathize. Have you had your blood levels drawn to see where you are? Taking the right amount of meds will go a long way in giving you energy to exercise and get things done. Good luck! 1 TES reacted to this
Arts137 1,811 Posted August 26, 2013 Geepers! Two very different points. ONE, 9 pounds a month is an amazing result. Might be good to rejoice in your success!. TWO, perception is all yours. And we all seem to struggle. I've lost 80 pounds and yet I seem the same fat guy in my head. My head does NOT equal reality!
mokee 588 Posted August 26, 2013 I also had my thyroid removed. Please go to an endocrinologist. My PCP had my meds all messed up for a yr. Finally I went to an endo and she put me on an amount and I stayed there. I have only decreased meds once even though I lost 82 lbs. Best of luck.
skinnygirlinside 60 Posted August 26, 2013 Thank you all for the comments. I do see an endo cause I am also type 1 diabetic. We just changed my meds a couple of weks ago for the second time since surgery. Hoping it will work.
