Just kinda freaking out...

Recommended Posts

I've seen these posts, I know I am not in a class of my own. I still can't convince myself all Is well. I guess I won't be until proven otherwise. What's the saying about not worrying about things until they happen.... Or something like that. I worry about them canceling my surgery because I don't loose enough at my final weigh in tomorrow, I worry that something in my final blood draw comes back and they need to postpone. I worry about not waking up after surgery and leaks and strictures and doing things right. One step at a time... One moment at a time. In just a few short days I will hit the 7 month mark since my referral. I've dreamed of this day for months and its finally here. I just need to make it through the next 32.5 hours :-)

If you made it for 7 months these next 32.5 hours may seem like forever but you are almost there. I think if you have done what you needed to do thus far you will be fine. Just don't be so hard on yourself I had teh same worrys. I always thought that something was going to stop from me from getting my wls but I made it through and now I have to live with it. Just try to relax and do your best ,your almost there. :)

You can't worry about the what ifs (easier said than done, I know)......don't waste precious time worrying about things you can't change, life's too short, and stressing enough as it is.............they told me I'd lose 20 pounds on the preop diet.....I only lost 10......and I was the preop princess--no cheating, stuck to the plan......no problems.....good luck!!!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
