Many people stall in the weight loss at weeks 3 - 5. Sometimes it is for a few days, other times for a few weeks. Your body is responding to the shock of the surgery and the many changes it is going through. Focus on getting in all your Protein, Water and moving / exercising as much as you can and you will get through the stall quickly. I also found that I needed to ADD calories to my day when I hit the stall. But I would stay focused on the protein and water first.

Thank you Catherine - I will focus on the goal- I'm not complaining what a difference 30 pounds has been- I will stay positive. I need to work on the next 50 lbs and I should reach my goal!

Thanks

I am at one month post op for the sleeve. My concerns are that I start to get active, such as shower and I get light headed and weak. I try to consume as much food as I can but I get too scared of eating too much and throwing it back up. Is tye light headed and weakness normal for my stage?

Thanks!

Ivgirl24 - well light headed and weak was "normal" for me at one month, but there is a wide continuim of how people feel at one month. I "healed" slower than most. As I said above, focus on getting in 60+ grams of Protein and 64 oz of Water, and moving a little (even if you are just doing "laps" in your house). If after reaching those goals you still feel crummy then contact your doctor - you could have a Vitamin deficiency that is making you feel cruddy.

I didn't start to feel human and able to handle life until around week 5. Went back to work part time week 7 and full time week 8. Most of all be kind to yourself and don't worry if you don't bounce back at the same rate as other people on this site. I'm happy for those who go back to work in 3 days, but not everyone heals from this surgery that quickly.

Hang in there it does get better!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
