barbmeow 92 Posted September 9, 2013 Lunaya, thank you for opening this stream of diologue. I think the majority of us sleevers have a problem with food or we would not be here. You are open about it and this is going to help us all. Since surgery I have been hiding in my den, I go out and exercise for 30 minutes every morning due to my dogs, otherwise I would not move. This morning my boyfriend said I think you are depressed. I looked at him and said, well my best friend has been limited/taken away from me.I can't stuff myself to numbness. Food has been my best friend, my solace,my reward,my emotional rescue. So now what do I do? Therapy came to me in a flash. But I have has over 18 years of therapy due to weight related issues, now it is time to use what I have learned. If you have not had therapy, please look at it as education, for that is all it is. Learning about yourself. Keep writing in this forum when you wnat to binge. I know we will all listen, it will help you, but also all of us. Losing 106 pounds is an amazing feat congratulations, and again thank you for addressing this concern. 1 Laura72 reacted to this

I miss it....but I am glad I found the sleeve, working on it being my new best friend (surgery date 5/28). 1 Laure reacted to this

J.Diesel 220 Posted September 17, 2013 Best advice would be to join a local support group, plus reach out to your nutritionist. Remember why you started this journey and have that overcome you cravings.
vsginkc 117 Posted September 18, 2013 I really appreciate this thread. I certainly "get it" too. I binged on pumpkin pie a couple of nights ago and I'm only 3.5 weeks out - scared myself to death. My two cents on therapy: After over 10 years of therapy, the most helpful has been cognitive behavioral therapy. It is solution focused and focuses directly on solving the behavior (e.g., the binge eating). Although working through my family issues etc etc blah blah blah might have been helpful, it is the cognitive behavioral therapy that helps me in a practical way. Now if I would just put it in practice more often... Good luck to you! Please keep us all posted!
