Have you measured yourself? Sometimes we lose inches, but not scale weight. Every time I think I am not losing weight, I just go try on my clothes. When I see jeans that I bought just a month ago (I am 3 months post op) that are now baggy on me, I know things are going in the right direction.

That said, if you are following your surgeon's instructions, then you are doing the right things and the weight will come off. You could do yourself a favor and not obsess over the scale. In fact, you could get rid of it, and resolve to weigh only at your doctor's office. That's what I do. In 3 months, I am down 52 lbs and have never had a "stall." There may have been days, even weeks where I didn't lose scale weight, but overall I've lost 4 lbs a week, and that's pretty darn good in my book!

Hello,

I PUT THE scale AWAY SINCE I HAD MY SLEEVE. i CHOOSE NOT TO BE ANYMORE A SLAVE TO THE SCALE! I WHEIGHT MY SELF ONCE A MONTH AND I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THAT. I DONT WANT TO KNOW IF I GAIN OR I HAD A STALL. THE MOST IMPORTANT FOR MY NOW IS TO ENJOY MY LOST AND BE HAPPY WITH MY SLEEVE. I DINT GAIN MY WEIGHT IN A FEW MONTH , SO A FOLLOW ALL THE RULLS AND THAT IS IT. IF YOU RESPECT THAT, THE WHEIGHT WILL GO DOWN BY IS SELF. I AM A SLOW LOOSER AND THIS IS OK WITH THAT. ENJOYE EVERY DAY OF YOUR SECOND CHANCE TO IMP^ROVED YOUR HEALT!

My surgery was July 16th and I've only lost 18 lbs. But I started at 174 so I expected I'd lose slower. My opinion: The slower you lose the better chance you have keeping it off. Don't worry about it. You'll get there eventually

Good luck

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
