Protein shake recommendations

Recommended Posts

ISO recommendations on Protein Shakes. My doctor gave me a list. Just wondering what everyone finds to be the most filling and tasteful. Gluten free recommendations are greatly appreciated too!

SAMs carries MuscleTech (gluten and lactose free) it is 100% whey isolate. One scoop has:

30grams Protein

Less than 1 gram sugar

160 calories

100mg digestive enzymes

I add Fiber to help things along ;)

Can be made with Water (I've not tried, but hubby only makes it this way) or milk (which is how I drink it, I'm sure you could use lactaid if lactose is a problem).

We have it in Rich chocolate and it is awesome.

Hope this helps!

I get mine from www.mercola.com The whey is made from GMO free, antibiotic free, hormone free, free range grass fed beef. no artificial anything. If you are lactose intolerant, he also carries a vegetarian pea Protein, but I have not tried it. I get the chocolate, but I think this time I am going to order the three pack that has strawberry, vanilla and chocolate. I've been told that Unjury has a good unflavored Protein Powder, but I haven't tried that one yet.

The only one I can tolerate (and I actually enjoy) is Premier Protein chocolate from either costco or SAMs club

I like the same only vanilla only con I have is that it drys out my mouth. But still taste good. Lol

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
