Pre made shakes

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone has an idea for some good pre made Protein Shakes? I have my Protein shakes for at home chosen, but I'd like to also have a stock of "grab-and-gos", ready for when I'm on the run, especially since I work nights and will be in college full time!! I live in a very small town and would prefer to buy in store vs online. I have a GNC and a Walmart, other then that its pretty limited. Thanks!

Like you, I needed something pre-made to grab and go. Here is what I tried: Muscle milk light (Walmart) = DISGUSTING. Premier Protein (costco, but I bet you can get at Walmart and/or certainly online) = OK. Not disgusting. Lean shakes from GNC -- very tasty! 160 cal, 6 g of carbs, 25 g of Protein. Right now, they are buy one, get one 50% off. I highly recommend.

good luck!

I used the GNC Total Lean shakes for on the go and lunch at work. They taste great and were a life saver for me. The vanilla bean is the best in my opinion. The chocolate was not to bad and strawberry crème would be my 3rd choice. You can get singles there at the store and try the flavors before you go and buy a bunch of a flavor just to find out you don't like it. They have 25g of Protein, 2g sugar and 6g fat.

I like Atkins Advantage the milk chocolate delight flavor the best. you can get that at Walmart. 15g protien, 1g sugar,160 calories, and 2 g net carbs. They also have diffrent flavors to choose from. I personally didn't like the vanilla was way to sweet to me. Hope that helps you.

Premier is the best IMHO I have tried quite a few of them and it beats them all followed by Atkins. I buy them at Sam's you can get them at costco but they are about $6 more there. You can't get them at Walmart I have tried. Some say they have seen them at Walgreens I have not. Any way Premier has a great chocolate taste that isn't thick at provides 30g of Protein, 160 calories and very little fat or sugar.

I would echo the Premier Protein (chocolate) recommendation.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
