roxy123 1 Posted January 14, 2007 Why! , why!, why! do I have pain in my left side 3 MONTHS post op???? Can you tell Im a little cranky? Its a very nagging annoying pain I get in my left side, Sometimes changing in location to my side/back. I have to change positions all the time to find some peace with the pain. Sometimes its when Im walking, sometimes when Im sitting, sometimes when Im lyng down. Its awful. The only other time I had similiar pain was right after the surgery which according to the posts on here is very common. This pain came agin about 1 month ago and has been on and off ever since. Oh yeah, almost forgot t tell you - it also sometimes creeps up into my left shoulder. Please if anyone has any imput, theories, or is experiencing the same please respond. It would mean so much to me to know if this is something normal or not normal or worse.
shutuplena 0 Posted January 15, 2007 If it's not gas it might be your gall bladder. Do you still have yours? I had mine removed at the same time I was banded and I used to have the same kind of pains as you describe. What has your doctor said? You should have it checked out. JJB 2 Posted January 15, 2007 I also get pain in my left shoulder. It comes on a couple times a week. It is gas. The only thing that helps me is to lay on my left side. Some times I can hear and feel a gas bubble moving around inside. Sometimes it takes a while but it usually comes out if you know what I mean. I hope thats not to much info. I hope you get some relief soon. I know it is annoying. I also get in a bad mood from it. Good luck.
marys 2 Posted January 15, 2007 I used to get a pain in my shoulder after eating and always thought it was gas - another bandster told me it was overeating and sure enough it was - i eat a lot less now whereas i always ate to fulll but not stuffed. sometimes as bandsters (with a history of overeating all the time) it is one of the hardest new behaviours to learn - i seriously didn't even know what satisfied was - to me satisfied was always stuffed to the gills -now it is stopping way before that - maybe that's it but definitely talk to your doc as it could be serious! Marlluvia 1 Posted January 15, 2007 I have this same problem and I see my doctor tomorrow, but my conclusion from reading this site and personal experience with the band, is that I am overeating. Instead of stopping when I feel satisfied, I go on to finish the full portion of whatever it is I'm eating. I know it's wrong, and I need to stop because it could ruin my esophagus or band. mypov 0 Posted January 15, 2007 At my 2 week post op appointment i asked my doctor about my pain that sounds similar to yours. he said it's normal unless it continues and doesn't eventually go away completely. In that case, he said the port may be hitting a nerve. Ask your surgeon about it though for sure. I hope you find some comfort!
bandqueen 0 Posted January 21, 2007 Hello, I was very excited to find you and that you had been banded recently by de la Garza. I was just banded by him on Jan 16th. I am experiencing pain in my left side as well but this is normal for the stage I am in however, I am curious as to why you are having pain again and was concerned. I hope I will be able to keep conversating with you since I am only a couple "footsteps" behind you and we had the same dr. I hope all is well with you and hope that you wont mind answering any of my questions that I may have in the future. Such as, did you really stay pure liquid diet for 2 weeks or did you try pureed foods a little in between weeks 1 and 2.
conniesueb 1 Posted January 22, 2007 I am also having pain in my left side, but it is down in my lower abdomen. It started a few days ago, and it almost felt like an ovulation thing or something. I also was quite constipated, but had a movement that night, and the next morning the pain was gone. Now the pain is back as of last night. I had another movement, but the pain is still there. It really hurts, especially if I am driving, and hit a bump or something! Has anyone had this? I am seeing my surgeon for a fill tomorrow, and I will ask him about it--I'm not sure if this is band-related or not. Thanks for the input.
