nikkoal 21 Posted August 25, 2013 Okay ive never had one before and today out popped one on my upper lip. A friend said they can be caused my malnourishment (which most of us fresh out of surgery are) and/or stress related. Anyone else get one after surgery? Before anyone says some meam things I am std free.
Jenny325 0 Posted August 25, 2013 I had one right out of surgery. I thought it might have been from the tube the put in your mouth, or stress from surgery. Who knows, but in glad to see I wasn't the it one. Lol
AtlantaRed 651 Posted August 25, 2013 A fever blister or cold sore is a form of the herpes virus. Many people have the virus in their system from chilhood, having a parent or someone kiss you. Some never have an outbreak, others have them often. Stress or illness can cause one to come on. Once you have the virus, you always have it and it is extremely contagious until it is completely gone, scab and all. Herpes 1 is generally the oral kind with only 1 sore. Herpes 2 is the genital kind with a cluster of sores. Hope that helps.
fallingwhisper 187 Posted August 25, 2013 I've had them since I was very young, my mom says 3 was the earliest she remembers me having one. I get them when I'm really stressed out about something. I use Abreva on mine, it's expensive, 17 bucks for a tiny tube but it lasts me forever. I expect to get one when I have my surgery just because of nerves
Ahealthyme2013 39 Posted August 25, 2013 I had one after surgery too. Never had one before. It went away quickly. I think it has something to so with the tube that goes down our throat and our lips get very dried out.

deedadumble 1,033 Posted August 25, 2013 I had a dentist use a laser on mine a few years ago and I've only had one since then (I got it lasered as well). It kills the virus and makes it heal faster. I think it helps it from coming back in the same spot. Search google for cold sore laser and you'll find a bunch of info.
