Newest pre-op Update! Today I met with the surgeon. Nice fellow! He said the surgery take about an hour. I told him I had time this afternoon, but he didn't go for it! Go figure!

I wasn't really sure about what exactly was expected of me, but from there I saw the NUT, then the insurance girl, then the nurse. The nurse filled in the blanks ( first I had to give more blood and pee in a cup)

This is what is left:

2 more group meetings (a total of 3 is expected) already scheduled these 9/6, 9/18

Endoscopy (ew) scheduled 9/13

1 Nut appointment. Schedule 9/18

Physical therapy scheduled 9/13

Soooo, by the 18 th, I will have jumped through all of the hoops!

2 big concerns!!

#1: I HAVE TO LOSE 10lbs before they schedule :(. I told the NUT I'd do that by next week!

#2: I HAVE TO QUIT SMOKING!!!! I got a prescription!

Easy peasy

Sounds like you are on a roll! Way to go on quitting smoking too! It will only help the healing process and you'll feel a lot better once you have stopped for awhile.

I started the process in April...I have to take 3 eight week classes on nutrition, exercise, etc., 1 seminar from a bariatric surgeon auth thru my insurance, 6 bariatric classes, attend a support group, keep a journal, monthly md visits, psyche eval, while weighing in weekly! And you can't miss more than one class per session or else! It's like going back to college all over again! U are lucky!

It happened really fast for me too. I have Anthem BC in Ca. Super fast approval and not too many hoops to jump through. I have to quit smoking too. I just got my date today (nov 4) so now I have a time line to wean off caffiene and cigs. Not looking forward to giving up my last two vices, but it is all worth it. (I must want this REALLY bad!) Im glad things are going fast for you too. Its kind of crazy. So far no second thoughts. They wanted to schedule me for the end of Sept, but I have a lot going on at work till the end of Oct, and I just can't bail on my team. Three people recently quit, and I can't do that to them right now. Anyway, now I just have to get through the next 2 months. Im sure it will go fast.

So, I just walked in my house and my phone rang.it was the insurance lady wanting to schedule a tentative date!! ( I thought she might be calling to ask for permission to use my sexy endoscopy photos in a brochure, but no!!). I told her I was free this afternoon, but she didn't bite!! Sooooo.... OCTOBER 8!!! She will submit to my instance ASAP!! So, hope that goes well!!

Hi! I started this process in May. After crossing off all the requirements, my insurance took over a month to approve me. But now I have a date! I visit my NUT tomorrow for pre-op consultation. liquid diet starts next Tuesday and surgery on Oct. 8th!

It's awesome that your journey has moved along a lot quicker. I look forward to hearing about you, sleeve sister!

So excited! We have the same day! I am still just "tentative" as I haven't gotten insurance approval yet! But we are moving right along! I start liquids the same day as you, and then I have to go back to the PCP to "sign off" on the surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
