Let US Troops In Iraq Die, Army says

Recommended Posts

Another way to support our troops until we get BuSh to remove them from harm's way is to give them the best protection possible.

Why is the US Army stopping Deployment of an anti-Rocket Propelled Grenade system?

Is the Army stopping the deployment of the Israeli developed "Trophy" anti-RPG system so that Ratheon can keep its $70,000,000 contract to deploy an anti-RPG system by 2011, when Trophy is ready now and has been ready since 2004?

I read that, too. It is the most unconscionable thing I have ever heard of. I hope the bastards responsible for this decision ALL rot in hell. Politics is a dirtier game than most of us ever imagined.

On another forum that I post on, all of the members who "Support the Troops Unconditionally" and who do not want the Iraqi war to end without victory are against writing to congress and the president about this situation.

Those unconditional supporters also say that those of us who want the troops out of Iraq and who think that no greater support can be given the troops than by helping to remove them from harm's way, are not supporting the troops.

But we who want the troops out are writing the president and our congressional representatives.

Please contact your elected Representatives:

Because they do not care about the troops, human life, or anything like that. All they care about is money. Otherwise, we would not be at war with Iraq in the first place. When you're dealing with sub-humans like Bush, you get sub-human behavior.

Too many people have bought the line that supporting the troops means supporting Bush and his choices.

Ugh I hate that. We have family in Iraq, and they get my support as often as possible, because they had to leave their families behind and do their duty. No qualms, they understood it's what they agreed to do by enlisting. I would give them the same support I would give anyone close to me who was taken away from their homes and "normal life", and put into a hostile environment. And B.S. (ode to TOM?) to anyone who would say that means I, in any way, support the chief idiot of the country.

It would be interesting, for those opposed to ending the war and who believe that having the troops in place is showing support, to actually ask our troops what they think.

I don't know a whole lot of people who have been there, past or present, but none of the ones I know would equal "I want you to stay there" to "I support you".

I have heard troops on TV say that they want to be there to finish what they started, or to protect their brother (fellow Marine) or so that the 3000 will not have died in vain.

But consider this. If you were in the mall with your 19 year old son and a 25 year old Arnold Schwarzenegger clone bumped into your son and said, "I am going to kick your butt", would allowing your son to fight him be supporting him? Even if your son got into a confrontation with another 19 year old of the same size, it would not be support (IMHO).

Just because troops in Iraq have been brainwashed by either the military or the heroes they have seen in the movie, and they want to keep fighting in Iraq, does not mean you are not supporting them by making them come home. Since when do 20 year old kids get to decide US foreign policy?

I study war literature and one scholar points out that many of the troops in Vietnam really believed they should be heroes because they'd seen so many war movies with heroes. However, once in country, their attitude seems to have been "f**k you John Wayne." I think a lot of young people fall for the propaganda that the military hands out to them on a daily basis. But the truth is that the people who would like them home alive and all in one piece are the real protectors of the military, not the folks who don't care if they are blown to bits. I care. I want them home in one piece--NOW!

I want them home in one piece now too. My heart aches for them and their families. I pray for them every day. I have believed from even before the day Bush sent our troops to Iraq, that it was incredibly wrong, dishonest and a path to destruction with no reasonable benefits to the U.S.

Unfortunately many Amercians and many of our Allies were correct in that assessment.

However I am not so sure that just bringing our troops home today is the only fair choice considering what we've done. We have made a commitment to the people of Iraq by going in there and bringing down the house. How can we just pull our troops out without assisting them in some way to rebuild and establish some peace?

We promised them safety from mass killings, we promised them a democracy, we told them that we were the good guys on white horses. It was wrong. It has been horrible. The price for ridding their country of Saddam was too high. I'm mad as hell at Bush for doing this to us and to them, but how can we pull out our troops without helping them establish some peace and a safe place to live? Can we really go on living our comfortable lives as before if we don't? How can we go on believing that we are better people than Saddam Hussein himself?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
